Local Highlighter Series

We are so thrilled to be able to connect with some of the brightest and most inspiring entrepreneurs and creatives from across the city and beyond and this series in particular gives us the honor of introducing these folks to you in a unique way – we go beyond the story of how they got to where they are today by asking them to reflect on a variety of deeper questions that we hope will help you better connect with them, their stories and their brands. Ultimately, our hope is that more of us will spend more of our money with independent artists, creatives and small businesses and we think getting to know one another at a deeper level is step one.

A normal day for me now looks like waking up at whatever time God chooses to open my eyes. I don’t even sleep with an alarm anymore. I immediately do praise and worship, have my prayer and quiet time and read my Bible. I still send a Bible verse via text to over 45 people a day on weekdays. Read more>>

If there’s one thing I would regret not doing, it would be creating a documentary that showcases an alternative way of living and healing, one that explores the power and potential of plant medicines. I know psychedelic medicine is still considered taboo in many places, but that’s slowly changing as more research emerges and people begin to see the profound healing it can offer. Read more>>

A belief I used to hold tightly was that certain things about me couldn’t change, that some habits or traits were just “who I was.” I used to say things like, “I’m not a morning person,” or “I’m bad at saving money,” or “I can’t stick to a diet.” I truly believed those limitations were part of my character. Authenticity. It’s at the root of everything I do, in art, in business, in relationships. I think we live in a time where performative culture is rewarded more than genuine expression, and it’s easy to lose yourself trying to fit into whatever version of “success” or “cool” seems to work for others. That children and childhood are precious. I will die on this cross. Let children be children. Tell them they are the most marvelous thing you have ever known. Read more>>
