We’re looking forward to introducing you to Kendra Zonca. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Kendra, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is a normal day like for you right now?
I love starting my day with movement, so you’ll find me at Solidcore first thing in the morning. There’s truly nothing better than a challenging workout with community to set my day up for success. Straight from class, I head into my sauna for a short yet rejuvenating session for muscle recovery and relaxation. Next, I quickly shower and eat breakfast, which is typically something I’ve prepped like protein overnight oats or chia pudding. Then I read a devotional and check my work emails before heading into the office on foot which, depending on the day, is either the restaurants or a work-from-home situation. Most days I’m building out social media content calendars, preparing newsletters, updating menus, and overseeing photoshoots. I leave work before dinner service, so once I’m home I make myself something simple yet healthy. In the evenings, I love to invite in more movement like a walk or trampoline bounce, then end my day in the steam room. Before I know it, it’s time to prepare for the next day!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Personally and professionally, I’m a content creator at heart. I’ve taken my passion for all things healthy living and translated it into my full-time career. I started an Instagram food blog-turned brand in 2018 as a way to showcase my favorite recipes, food photography, and promote an overall healthy lifestyle. “Kale It With Kendra” has been my platform to play. Currently, I’m the Marketing Coordinator for a renowned hospitality group behind some of Miami’s top Michelin-starred concepts. Whether it’s taking content for new dishes, curating social media posts for the restaurants, or just being in the kitchen environment, work often feels like play. Life really has come full circle.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I’ve felt the most powerful in recent years, and I credit that to Solidcore. With hundreds of classes taken under the blue lights, showing up daily to do the work is like muscle memory. The empowering feeling of challenging myself translates to life outside the studio; I’m able to step into my most confident self at work and in relationships.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Perfectionism has kept me stuck in several areas of my life. Growing up, the fear of not being perfect would cause me to overthink on school assignments, procrastinate on projects, track the foods I ate, monitor my workouts, and resist romantic relationships. In recent years, I’ve learned to become much more comfortable and even embrace the joy of imperfection.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
The evidence of God working through my life is so apparent, I don’t often shout it from the rooftops. I was raised Catholic and have always felt protective forces around me, like a light guiding my path.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
Whenever I’m in the zone listening to my favorite music on a walk in nature and happen to witness a beautiful sunrise, a stunning sunset, or just take in the views around me, I feel most at peace.
