In days I decided against popular opinion and signed a condo lease in South Beach and then moved 6 months later in August 2001 with the anticipation of staying for 2 years. However, less than a month after the move, 9/11 happened and everything changed. I regularly think about how blessed I am to have followed this path, as the other job I was contemplating in NYC before signing in Miami would have starting Monday, September 10 next to the trade towers.
