Portraits of Miami

It’s more important to understand someone than to judge them. We think the first step to understanding someone is asking them the fundamental questions about who they are and how they became the person they are today. Understanding and empathy are essential building blocks for a better, more compassionate world. We’re incredibly fortunate to be able to ask these questions each week through our interview series. Below you’ll find inspiring interviews from in and around Miami.

In some ways, it’s been a smooth road because of the mindset Ryan and I share when it comes to business. We embrace change and aren’t afraid to pivot when things don’t go as planned. Later, I found out. A girl in my class had started a vicious rumor about me. She told everyone that I used a sock to do something sexual and had even named it after the most popular boy in our class—Mitch. I was devastated. Humiliated. Paralyzed with shame. Coming from a home where topics like sex were never discussed, where such things were considered taboo, I felt utterly alone. I didn’t have the kind of relationship with my mom where I could turn to her for comfort or guidance. I didn’t know how to process it. Read More>>

No, it wasn’t always an easy path, especially my studies and the decision not to work in this field cost me a lot of effort because I had to give up a lot of things, including a secure salary and a secure job and of course disappointing people. I started AllCultureConnect as a result of my own experiences with the American Education System. I dealt with anxiety and immense sadness due to the fact that, compared to my peers, I had no idea what to do to be a competitive student for colleges. They all knew the tips and the tricks to do so due to their parents attending school in America, but I didn’t have that luxury at all. Eventually, I learned. I bought books, read articles—researched everything I could to make myself a great applicant. Now as a senior, I want to pass on this knowledge to help others and build them up. Read More>>

After the pageant, I was studying for my Acupuncture board exam, I found a space to study at The Hub @ Office Logic and was exposed to tech. From there I learned to program my own GPT bot and came up with an idea on how I would leverage technology to share with the world about TCM. I am working on developing an app, currently, that leverages AI so I can bring the knowledge to the people. I also just started the Knight Foundation Fellowship in Healthcare Technology Innovation at Baptist Health South Florida. My art 🖼️ talks about me personally, my life story, with all the good and bad, it’s as if I expressed my experiences through colors and written messages, actually drawn/lettering, I spent 7 years in SP, developing this pointillism technique using chalk, then adding fluorescent colors through liquid chalk, why? I needed to sell rolled cakes that I bought from Recife and every week they flew to SP, where I distributed them in more than 100 points… I introduced the culture of rolled cakes and not Swiss rolls.
