Rising Stars: Meet Ella Gencarelli of Miami

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ella Gencarelli

Hi Ella, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Growing up, I’ve always had a passion for social media, marketing, and advertising without even realizing it. It wasn’t until I came to the University of Miami where that passion flourished. I’ve been able to grow into the best version of myself and experience things I would have never been able to experience otherwise if it weren’t for Miami. I currently study Psychology with minors in Marketing and Advertising at the University of Miami, which has enabled me to successfully market myself as a content creator to my audience as well as market other brands and products to my audience. I chose to major in Psychology because I can study human behavior and why humans do what they do which in turn grants me the ability to study trends that ultimately result in growth and success across all platforms. I began gaining an audience and success with my content once I started to take social media more seriously and post more consistently. I’m still growing and learning as I go, but I have truly fallen in love with the marketing world, and I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for me!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life will always throw obstacles in your way, but it’s all worth it in the end. I, of course, have faced challenges throughout my journey, and I know that it won’t always be smooth sailing as well. I think the hardest challenge I have faced is gaining hate and being made fun of for pursuing a persona on social media, but this has also been a great learning experience for me at the same time. I’ve realized that the only person getting in my way is myself. I’ve gone through challenges and experiences that have shaped me as an individual and have only pushed me to be the best I can be. My favorite thing to do whenever I am approaching a new goal is to tell myself that I will be the best at this which motivates me to dive in head first to accomplish my objectives, which is exactly what I did in this case and didn’t let anyone’s negativity in. My only competition is myself because only I can make myself succeed and I continuously want to be better than the last version of myself.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a student at the University of Miami, juggling the life of a content creator and swooning over the world of marketing and advertising. Aside from my studies, I participate in a multitude of extracurricular activities such as Sigma Delta Tau, the American Marketing Association, and more. I have also received recognition on the Provost’s Honor Roll and Dean’s List. When it comes to content creation, my posts range from everything from lifestyle tips to beauty hacks and fashion trends. I collaborate with brands to swoon their audience and mine and ultimately market myself and my brand. Aside from being a micro-influencer, I work as a collegiate ambassador for PRIME, an influencer for The Black Sheep, a prior Sales & Marketing Intern for Greek House, a bartender, and even a law library student assistant at the University of Miami. I truly am a jack of all trades. As someone who has worked to earn everything in their life, I am always dedicated to bringing hard work, commitment, and leadership with every endeavor I pursue.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
My favorite resources are groups that I have joined on LinkedIn such as Sky Society Women in Marketing, Digital Marketing: Social Media, Search, AI Marketing, Mobile & More, and a few others. I feel that these are extremely informational and can teach you things that you wouldn’t necessarily gain insight into anywhere else. I also follow a few newsletters on LinkedIn such as #InfluencerRecapwithAshlynn and others as well as top voices in the marketing world such as Sophie Miller. I tend to also gain a lot of insight and information on social media platforms, especially TikTok because many influencers will share tips and tricks to succeed in the industry which I think is the best way of gaining knowledge since they are direct examples of success stories.
