Rising Stars: Meet Carla Michelle Roman of Miami, Florida

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carla Michelle Roman.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey has always been rooted in creativity, connection, and the celebration of life’s special moments. I am originally from Ponce, Puerto Rico, and throughout my career I explored different professional paths, from Agricultural Engineering to more than a decade in corporate leadership in billing and business development at My Psychiatrist, with a strong focus on mental health and wellbeing. That experience gave me a deep understanding of people, emotions, and the importance of creating meaningful human connections.

At the same time, creativity and movement have always been a constant in my life. From an early age, I was drawn to dance, performance, modeling, and artistic expression, spaces where energy, presence, and emotion come together. That creative instinct remained with me even while navigating more structured professional environments, continuously pulling me toward building something more purpose driven.

In 2018, I founded Fiesta in a Box, a creative event company born from my love for designing experiences that bring people together. What began as curated party boxes evolved into full scale, highly personalized events, from intimate celebrations to corporate experiences. My focus has always been on creating something unique, elevated, and emotionally meaningful, not just visually beautiful, but experiences that truly stay with people.

Becoming a mother marked a powerful turning point in my life. It awakened a deeper sense of purpose and inspired the creation of Colorada Colorida y sus Aventuras, a children’s experience and digital show focused on emotional wellbeing, movement, imagination, and connection. Through this project, I bring together my creative background, my love for movement, and my understanding of emotional health to design experiences that help children and their families regulate emotions, express themselves, and reconnect with joy in a simple and magical way.

Today, I see both brands as extensions of the same mission: creating meaningful experiences that celebrate life and foster connection. Whether through a beautifully curated event or a moment of emotional connection with a child, my goal is always to create something that feels special, intentional, and lasting.

I am currently expanding Colorada Colorida into live shows, digital content, and educational tools, while continuing to evolve Fiesta in a Box with a fresh and innovative approach.

Everything I do is guided by one intention: to create experiences that people do not just remember, but truly feel.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t always been an easy path. Along the way, I have faced different challenges, both practical and internal, that have shaped my journey.

One of the biggest challenges has been balancing my creative vision with time. I naturally generate a constant flow of ideas, and at times I have wanted to build multiple projects at once. That has required me to learn how to slow down, prioritize, and stay committed to finishing what I start, even as new ideas continue to emerge.

Another challenge has been managing my time and energy while working full time. Building something of your own demands a different level of dedication, and many times that has meant working late nights, sacrificing rest, and pushing myself beyond what feels comfortable. My mind often moves faster than my ability to execute, so learning how to ground those ideas into action has been an essential part of my growth.

There have also been more human challenges. Moments of doubt, the fear of stepping outside of what feels safe or expected, and the internal questions that come with choosing a different path. But I have learned to move forward anyway, even when everything is not perfectly clear.

I have come to understand that we are here to live, to create, and to step beyond what feels familiar. Even when fear is present, you move forward. Because sometimes it is not about waiting until you feel ready. It is about doing it with fear, and doing it anyway.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My work lives at the intersection of creativity, emotion, and human connection. I design experiences, whether through events or children’s content, that are meant to be felt, not just seen—creating moments that linger long after they happen.

Through Fiesta in a Box, I specialize in crafting elevated, highly personalized experiences that transform ordinary moments into something meaningful and memorable. I am known for my attention to detail, my intuitive ability to read the energy of a space or a client, and for designing environments that feel intentional, immersive, and emotionally resonant.

With Colorada Colorida y sus Aventuras, my work expands into a more expressive and purposeful dimension. I create experiences for children and families that integrate movement, imagination, and emotional wellbeing in a way that feels natural, playful, and engaging. My creative foundation is rooted in music, performance, and acting—disciplines I actively train in and bring into everything I create—allowing me to connect and communicate in a way that feels authentic and alive.

I am especially passionate about helping children connect with their emotions through simple, creative, and accessible tools, while also creating spaces where families can reconnect with joy in a genuine and grounded way.

What I am most proud of is my ability to create from a place of authenticity and intention. Everything I build is guided by lived experience, intuition, and a deep understanding of people and emotional connection. I do not follow formulas, I create with awareness, presence, and purpose.

What truly sets my work apart is that it goes beyond aesthetics or entertainment. I create experiences that leave a lasting emotional imprint. I believe life is meant to be felt and celebrated, even in its simplest moments, and that genuine connection is what people remember most.

In a world that often feels fast, overwhelming, and disconnected, my work is about creating spaces—whether physical or digital—where people can slow down, feel present, and reconnect with joy, creativity, and each other.

Ultimately, my work is my way of contributing something meaningful to the world: a reminder that joy, connection, and presence are not luxuries….they are essential.

What does success mean to you?
Success, to me, is an inner state before it is anything external.
It is the moment when you have done the work within yourself, when you feel grounded, present, and aligned with who you truly are.

Success is being able to feel fulfilled even if you don’t have everything you once thought you needed. It’s shifting your focus to what truly matters, appreciating the small details, and understanding that life is happening here and now. Time doesn’t wait, so success is choosing to live fully and intentionally.

Achievements and titles matter, and I respect them, but they are not the whole picture. In today’s world, where we are constantly exposed to noise, pressure, and overwhelming realities, emotional intelligence has become one of the purest forms of success.

To me, success also means respecting and honoring yourself, fully accepting who you are — your strengths and your weaknesses — while staying open and committed to growing every day.

To be able to pause, feel, regulate, connect, and still choose joy… that is success.

Life is short, and it doesn’t wait. Success is having the courage to go after what you feel called to do, without leaving parts of yourself behind.
