Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Amira.
Brandon, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been building and creating since I was 10 years old. Now, two decades later, I’m a kinetic light and metal artist with a foundation in construction and engineering, which continues to shape how I approach my work.
As both an entrepreneur and artist, I’ve created kinetic light sculptures for private residences, galleries, and commercial spaces, seamlessly bridging design, art, and technology. My work is rooted in the idea that light is not just a source of illumination, but a medium. I use it to transform structure into experience, creating pieces that engage both space and perception.
Over time, I developed my patented Parallel Series, a sculptural lighting system that integrates minimalist metal forms with embedded LED illumination. This innovation allows me to unify precision and emotion within a single form, where each piece exists as a bold architectural presence by day and reveals a luminous, immersive quality by night.
Having grown up in Miami, I continued my academic journey at Florida International University, further grounding my connection to the city that continues to influence my work and its relationship to architecture, light, and environment.
Today, my practice lives at the intersection of art and architecture. I create sculptural experiences that go beyond function, transforming everyday structures into moments of connection, perception, and what I define as illuminating elegance.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As a child, I was always fascinated by electricity and light, which naturally led me to explore kinetic light as my medium. Choosing this path has challenged the standard norms of what many people understand as art, since my work exists between art, architecture, and functional design. Early on, that created friction. Introducing something new often requires not just building the work, but helping others understand its value. At the same time, the technical complexity of integrating light seamlessly into metal structures requires both engineering precision and artistic vision. Those challenges have ultimately shaped my process and pushed me to create work that redefines how light and structure can exist together.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a Turkish-Cuban American kinetic light artist based in Miami, specializing in the integration of metal, light, and design into larger-than-life, ultra-refined sculptural forms. My work focuses on creating custom, hand-crafted pieces from premium aluminum that are both visually striking and architecturally intentional.
My sculptures range from intricate, water-integrated installations to illuminated metal forms, designed for private residences, commercial spaces , and galleries. I’m particularly drawn to large-scale, one-of-a-kind works that have the ability to transform and elevate the environments they inhabit.
What I’m most proud of is the ability to merge artistic vision with real-world execution. Each piece is engineered for longevity, designed with precision, symmetry, and durability in mind, allowing it to withstand the elements while maintaining a clean, modern presence over time.
Some of my most recognized works include “Luma”, a minimal, free-standing illuminated sculpture which can be viewed here: https://www.brandonamiradesigns.com/parallelseries/luma
Another kinetic light and metal sculpture that I recently created includes “Infinity Opus”, a looping light form that explores strength and continuity which can be viewed here: https://www.brandonamiradesigns.com/completedartworks/infinityopus.
My work has been exhibited across Miami, including at the Miami International Fine Arts, Aura Copeland Contemporary, the Miami Beach Convention Center, and other prominent venues. What sets my work apart is the seamless integration of light within structure. Rather than applying light onto a form, I embed it within the sculpture itself, creating a continuous, refined glow that becomes part of the architecture. This approach is driven by my patented lighting systems and my background in construction, allowing me to execute complex works with both artistic intention and technical precision.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories is building and creating things from a thought in my mind into tangible, real-world objects. I was especially fascinated by electricity and light, often taking things apart just to understand how they worked and then reimagining them in my own way. That curiosity stayed with me. What started as a fascination with how things work evolved into a passion for creating experiences, and today, I still carry that same mindset, just at a much larger and more refined scale.
All of my works are custom commissioned and priced based on scale, complexity, and level of architectural integration and pricing is available upon request following an initial consultation. Each piece is individually designed, engineered, and fabricated using premium materials, with a focus on longevity and seamless integration into its environment. Select large-scale and signature works are developed as part of private commissions and are not publicly priced.
