Mimi Alas of North Miami on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Mimi Alas. Check out our conversation below.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Mimi Alas and I’m an Entertainment Journalist and Content Creator-Producer, born and raised in El Salvador, and now living in Miami.

I’ve always been passionate about creating and being on camera. When I was a kid, my childhood games were playing I was a host for Sabado Gigante, E! News and Miss Universe, and somehow it happened on my late 20s and now that I’m thirty. I say somehow because instead of working for television, my main focus is social media and I am very blessed to do everything I like through platforms like TikTok or Instagram, where the companies I work for, use my journalism and on-camera skills to create content for them

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
I think the single girl in her 20s dreaming of moving to a big city to pursue her career and finding love.

My 20’s were to grow, to hustle, to learn how to love myself and to try to find romantic love, but during that I went through a lot of ups, downs and uncertainty in all the areas of my life.

This year I turned 30 and it came with a lot of changes. Feels like everything I worked for the last 10 years finally came to fruition. My career reached a level where for the first time ever I am happy, satisfied and proud of where I am at, and enjoying every moment of it, and when it comes to love, I am dating my best friend and I’m on the happiest and healthiest relationship I’ve ever been with an amazing man I love and I see myself building my whole life with.

I look back to my 20s and the journey to get here wasn’t easy, but I am so thankful for that little girl that never gave up on her dreams and was brave enough to believe in herself even when the world said NO several times. I will always be that brave girl and I’ll forever honor her, but also, I’m leaving her in my 20’s and I’m excited for the woman I will become in the next 10 years.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me that God is real. I went through a very hard time for almost a year and a half, and even though I grew up catholic and knowing God existed, I never really met Him until I went through this period.

I met God in a very low valley, where I felt alone. I met God in the hospital, an experience that changed my life, and now that I look back, I can certainly say it was God who held me and kept me safe during that time.

Suffering taught me how to be humble, how to never take anything for granted, not people, not relationships, not work…nothing! Suffering also thought me that is better to have quality over quantity. After this experience, my circle became closer, but I am happier, knowing that the few people that have access to me and my inner world are my family that I love so much, my boyfriend and my real friends.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I believe education is freedom and that every girl and woman, should have access to education.

One of my biggest dreams (and goals) is to be able to empower woman on their journeys not only to self love but also on their careers. I met a long time ago a lovely lady that shared with me her desire to study and how even though she had a scholarship, she couldn’t afford it and since then, Ive decided to make it my goal to provide resources for women to grow and to develop themselves in all the areas of their lives.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Have you ever gotten what you wanted, and found it did not satisfy you?
Yes! Several times! I feel like it’s our human nature to reach certain level and immediately start thinking about the next one, without consciously enjoying where we are now.

Right now I’m leaving a season that on the big picture, I got everything I’ve always wanted, but also I have my moments where I wonder what is the next step.

Being through a difficult period taught me to never take things for granted and I think that has helped me to stay grounded most on the time. Also, the second half of this year, God has been speaking to me several times and has been telling me “BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD”, so I guess I am just learning to be obedient and always find joy in the little things, like the laughs with my family, the morning coffee, run and Costco ritual with my boyfriend, endless conversations with my best friends and messages from my bosses saying everything is okay.
