Today we’d like to introduce you to Zach Dishinger.
Zach, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It all started around age 11, in my kitchen, mixing my mom’s bronzers with lipsticks to create the perfect shades and textures. I wanted to create a beauty collection for everyone regardless of race, age, gender, or sexual orientation. It was important to nail it from the start.
I handle everything – from the design, formulation, packaging, and creative elements to the photo shoots.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I try to focus on the positive things that are going on in life, and what I am capable of doing rather than letting every single comment get under my skin and ruin my day. As long as I’m being the best I can be, and am authentically living my life to the fullest, I’m happy.
When I put on makeup, being bullied for being gay or judged for my unconventional interests just doesn’t matter anymore. Even though the hardcore bullying stopped at school, being a gay teen still comes with challenges. A guy wearing makeup in public seems completely normal to me, but not to everyone. My newest collaboration with The Trevor Project features our Mission Z Forever Lips which come straight from the heart.

What were you like growing up?
As a kid, I was always getting in trouble for putting finger paint all over myself. I grew up in Florida and was your typical theater kid. By middle school, I realized what I loved most about acting was the art of transformation.
Through my love for makeup and obsession with the beauty industry, I learned the importance of a great business strategy and great partners. When I was 15, I launched Formula Z!
Education is extremely important to me. I’m in high school and plan on going to college while continuing to grow Formula Z.
I love to learn and constantly educate myself on the beauty industry and new trends, and I only hope to work with people who share the same passion for creating killer, quality products!
