Yulia, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We are a closet door manufacturer. Here in the US, we started in 2016 as an interior door supplier.
We represent European manufacturers of interior doors, who counts more than 20 years in the business. We understand that people have problems with closet doors. Our customers always ask us to fix their doors that are stuck in one position in track, or even simply stay near closet. We decided to pay more attention on closet doors and offered them custom doors that are really nice and durable. Costs a fortune for most people, but we are always looking for solutions to make our doors more affordable. Now we have a line of inexpensive doors, and prices are comparable to doors from Loewe’s and Home Depot. At the same time, when we were looking for solutions to make custom doors cheaper, we are also looking for opportunities to sell doors nationwide. And now, we also have orders from different parts of the US.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Growing your business is never a smooth road, I’d say it’s always off-road. We are almost 2 years and its known fact that 90% of business will never reach their 1st year.
First year every step is like you are a baby again, you don’t feel confident especially if you produce something, there are more risks than let’s say in selling online courses or marketing services.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Star-doors.com story. Tell us more about the business.
We make people’s closets nice with custom made sliding and bi-fold doors. There are several manufacturers in Miami who produce same doors, but we made this kind of doors really affordable. I’m proud that more people now can have these doors at their houses and enjoy them for very long time.
Actually I was always surprised how it is possible to leave in a luxury house and put up with ugly aluminum doors, same as having a closet full of branded clothes and bags but can’t close it because of non-working doors.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’m not sure about bad luck, some people say that it was a bad time to start business, some people say this year is twice bad than the previous. We just keep working, keep looking for opportunities to grow, to make work places and I believe that good luck and God will help us.
