Today we’d like to introduce you to Yanice Torres.
Yanice, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Even though I’ve been in the Beauty Industry for ten years, Bella by Yanice aka BELLA has been in business for two years. I started ten years ago working for MAC cosmetics. MAC is where I found my passion. Not just for the makeup but for the people. For the confidence and love, people had for themselves after they left my chair.
Through MAC, I met so many talented and amazing artists who helped transpired my career. One specific artist, Juan Pantoja brought me into another world of Makeup. TV, Film, and production. I then began my career as an independent contractor working for a couple agencies where I provided my hair and makeup skills for Film, Commercials, Print work, celebrities. Seven years into my career, I decided It was time to take a leap of faith and go on my own. That’s where Bella by Yanice began. Bella, being my daughter’s nickname and Bella meaning Beautiful.
It’s been two years going on my own, and we have a team of six employees, we’ve landed gigs with Nike, Telemundo, Disney, and not to mention we were the official hair and makeup team for the east coast episodes for Disney’s Fairytale Wedding TV Show Season II. We have traveled all through the United States and Internationally for weddings and TV productions such as Costa Rica, Trinidad, Bahamas. Disney Cruises and more providing our services as a team. Bella by Yanice was created by one but has grown with the help of an amazing and talented team.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Two years ago, when Bella By Yanice first launched, it was a struggle. There was stress, fear, and all which I had to replace with positivity and faith. Having committed so much time into other agencies, I had to rebuild my brand, myself, the company, all from the ground up. All during the summertime. Which is typically a slower month for weddings in Florida. However, Once September hit of 2018, we began booking consistently filling our books. We’ve been consistent ever since. Leaving us to decline some projects and or weddings due to being booked up. Now we only accept two jobs per day and we have bookings all the way until the end of 2021
Bella By Yanice – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Bella By Yanice is a traveling team of professional and licensed hair and makeup artist. As the owner, I am most proud of the diversity Bella brings. We’ve worked on every skin type, hair type, sweet 16’s, Celebrities, fashion shows, body painting, Special effects… No matter where you are from in this world or what the project is, we are confident we have the knowledge, talent and expertise to provide top-notch services.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Taking a leap of faith, that’s success. Seeing your ideas and goals come to life, that’s success. Success is different in the eyes of everyone. My success is being able to run a business that brings me joy, love, and connection through all that I meet. As a single mom of three, being able to do what I’m passionate about while traveling the world, makes every step a success.
Some day’s I may redesign my whole website or just finish all my emails, every day, every move, and every effort put into Bella, that’s my success.
