Hi Woodeline, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my business in 2018 selling lashes. I didn’t know how passionate I can be for something until I started my business. I literally use to do 30-45min drives delivering lashes. I later on started offering lash services from my living room, while pursing my career in the beauty industry. After graduating as an Esthetician | Full Specialist in 2019, I began creating natural beauty products, such as hair oils, facial and body scrubs, serums and all things beauty. During COVID in 2020, I launched an online store, featuring all of my products. In 2021, I moved to Atlanta, and developed a stronger passion for waxing. Upon returning to Florida in 2023, I took a year off to settle in and ponder on my next move. I than took a leap of faith back into business in 2024, as a service provider in a store front, specializing in full body waxing. I had to rebuilt from scratch, starting with no clients. With consistency and dedication I was able to build a full client list in 10 months, achieving success and transitioning to my own suite. Proving that success starts with just believing yourself. You’ll never know what’s on the other end if you don’t take that first step.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It haven’t always been a smooth road, that’s for sure! Being an entrepreneur is not for the weak and its not always a walk in the park. I’ve had seasons where I was able to be a full-time entrepreneur and I had seasons where I had to be 9-5 entrepreneur. Yes! Working full-time, while running business full-time and being a full-time student. It’s a lot of investments and sometimes you have to go back to the drawing board and as a small business owner I practically wear all the hats you can think of.

Sometimes life itself can be overwhelming, and finding balance between personal and business can be a bit challenging. One of the biggest nerve wrecking, challenges for me was going into a storefront as a service provider with 0 clients. Yes, ZERO! But I had so much faith that where I was starting is not where it will end for me, and as a daily reminder I’ll say to self “Your results will be proof of the work you put in.” For me that was my daily devotion, and reflecting on my past obstacles as a reminder to push through no matter what is thrown my way.

In the past 8 years the most important thing that I have learned and will pass on to anyone is to be consistent, you get what you put out, learn from your mistakes, its ok to start over, don’t focus on who’s not supporting you, you will always be a student so don’t ever think you know it all. You will learn something new everyday, so don’t rob yourself from the opportunity to do so because of ego. Most importantly don’t be afraid to invest in your brand and have a plan.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Wax City was established in 2021, while attending Health & Style Institute in Kennesaw, GA. which is when my passion for waxing resurfaced. Wax City became a legal business in 2024, and have taking an unexpected growth in such a short period of time. At Wax City we offer full body waxing, facial waxing, cluster lash extensions, body massages, wax packages deals, lash and wax training courses and we service men and women. Vajacials will be added to our service list soon, as it is one of our most requested services to offer.

We are known for our Brazilian waxes and clustered lash extensions. What sets Wax City apart is our complimentary massages that is offered with any wax service. It is optional, you can also extend the service as an add on. Every service is uniquely catered around the comfort of every client. Which allows them to have an easy going service, with minimum to no pain. Wax City have build a genuine connection with every client, which we take pride in.

What I am most proud of is the ability to build a brand from scratch and watch it develop right before my eyes. Its like birthing a child and witnessing every step along the way, and just watching what you created unfold while stepping into its own image and personality. Wax City is truly developing into its own unique brand and will one day be one of the top 5 wax centers in the U.S. And I don’t doubt it at all, as we are already a five star business on google.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
The most surprising thing that I will say many might not know, outside of close childhood friends, is that I’ve been homeless. Despite of, I’ve always kept my head above water and was always well kept. It’s not because I always had it either, but simply because God kept me covered. Every need was supplied, some days were harder than most, but being driven, ambitious and hard working is why I was able to push through and not dwell there.

Prayer was the key for me and daily reminders that “This season is temporary, this storm won’t last forever.” I say that to say, no matter the circumstances it’s preparation for what’s ahead. Those trial times molded me, and created the dedicated hard worker that I am today. I don’t believe in giving up or giving myself limitations. I believe in trying again, and again until the results change. Because of that I am able to be in the presence of answered prayers
