Today we’d like to introduce you to Valeria Laguna.
Valeria, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Well, I started Rad Redemption because I wanted to show people that you can be fierce and stylish on a budget. I am currently a second year Advertising major at the University of Florida and I constantly see college students struggling with their style because they think they have to spend a ton of money to be fashion forward. I am not a stylist or an expert but I love fashion, choosing my outfits and playing with my style. That’s the fun part about fashion, there are no rules! People always ask me how I describe my style and I never have one specific answer. My style is constantly evolving. One day, I like to dress more girly, while others I like to dress in all black head to toe, it just depends on my mood. I call Rad Redemption a lifestyle blog because I share my life in general including travel, food, beauty, college, fashion tips and so on. It took a lot of courage to start Rad Redemption because there are always people who will make fun of or criticize you but once I realized that was always going to be the case no matter what I did, I truly began to enjoy and have fun with it! I want Rad Redemption to inspire others to be confident because being confident in your passions, what you love and yourself will make you unstoppable.
Has it been a smooth road?
It’s definitely has not been easy. Sometimes, I feel like giving up because I think people aren’t interested in what I post but then, I get messages from followers or a brand that I love, likes my picture and it makes me want to keep going. It is also difficult because nowadays everyone has a blog, so you have to find what makes you different. You can’t start a blog for money or followers, you have to do it because it’s something you are truly passionate about. I also sometimes get a little frustrated that I can’t give it 100% of my time because I am a college student and I work as well.

Rad Redemption is all about sharing lifestyle tips, mainly fashion. When I first started, my target audience was college students, but now I have followers from all over the world and of all different ages. What I am most proud of is that Rad Redemption is a platform that encourages confidence and support through fashion. It has also become a place where I have met a ton of new people whether they are bloggers, entrepreneurs, or simply individuals looking for style advice and inspiration. I started this as a hobby because it combines things I love to do like content creation, putting together looks and writing but it has definitely become much more than that. Although, my following isn’t huge, I have been able to meet and interact with people one on one, which is so much fun.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I definitely think Miami is a great place to start a blog just because there is so much to do and explore. There is a large community of bloggers in Miami, which has led to a ton of blogger events, blogger unions, blogger meetups and so on. I feel like a lot of people would be intimidated by this or see it as a city with a lot of competition but actually, I see it as a positive way to collab with other bloggers and constantly be inspired and motivated to keep going.
