Meet Tricia Morris of High End Beauty in Boca Raton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tricia Morris.

Tricia, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I launched High End Beauty in 2011 at the request of several distributors of manufacturing brands to help control the distribution of their brands in specific locations, as well as very specific needs as far as where they wanted their brand to be sold; whether they want to be in salons or spas, doctors offices, in a certain territory, retail store, e-commerce, or anywhere and everywhere they could be seen. It quickly became clear to me how important brand representation is, as each brand has their own vision of where they would like to see their product being sold.

Over time our relationships grew in all aspects of the beauty industry through educational beauty shows, schools, spa and salon distribution, and through the WBENC certification certain partnering retailers. Because of this growth, we are now able to help International brands have a real presence in the United States for manufacturers that aren’t sure how to get their product in the US other than setting up a booth at a beauty show. It’s exciting learning about the new beauty products on the market and at the same time satisfying helping brands reach their goals of distribution.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Oh boy, well I think that when opening your own business you have to know that there will be struggles. When I think of the struggles at the beginning it would be learning how important communication is when partnering with distributors, manufacturers, or customers. I learned not to assume anything, ask a lot of questions and confirm that everyone understands the goals and expectations so that there are no disappointments or misunderstandings later on.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
High End Beauty has several departments of our business structure. We have our professional division, which is supporting the distribution of brands in spas, salons and schools. We have educators that learn about the brand we partner with so that our educators can then go from location to location and help the school teach the students, spas and salon professionals.

Our retail department is for the brands who want to be in specific stores, or if they have discontinued product, package changes, overages in products, season changes, and they would like the retailer to take it all so that they can move to their next season, package or product.

I’m proud of High End Beauty’s Certification with Women’s Business Enterprise National Council as well as the Women’s Only Small Business.

What sets us apart in the beauty distribution world is the customization and support we give to each brand. We help explain the different options a brand can take if they are unsure and when they decide we help them in every step of the way.

What were you like growing up?
When I was growing up I was a tomboy that liked to get pretty from time to time, had a lot of energy and a very tough time staying focused. If I didn’t know the answer in school it was easier to pretend like I didn’t know anything. The closer I got to 18 the more pressure I felt that I had to have my whole life/career figured out.

I quickly became a court reporter and was successful for many years until I got married and raised my family. I’ve always loved all types of beauty products as well as learning the newest available products around the world. Today, outside of the beauty business industry I enjoy the American Rhythm Ballroom World.
