Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiana Davis.
Kiana, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started making kinis last summer! I was so tired of spending money on swimwear so I figured that I should just learn how to make them! Once I started posting myself in my handmade bikinis I got a very positive reaction from other women! With a large request to start making custom orders (literally the same day that I posted) I opened my businesses Instagram! My bikinis offer comfort and very flattering styles that can be worn by any women no matter what size!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Overall, it’s been a smooth road. My biggest struggle was deciding to leave school and quit my job because I realized that this is what I love so I wanted to dedicate all my time to it!
My advice no matter how cliché it might sound is just to follow your heart! Don’t listen to what anyone has to say, if you feel like this decision will help you prosper and grow…. DO IT.
We’d love to hear more about Kiki’s Kinis.
I specialize in making swimwear but I have ventured into up cycling clothing and giving them a new life! I like to make sets and clothing that complement the bikinis I make! I am proud that people like my brand and it is transparent as in they can see what I stand for what I love and that I love making women happy! I am not sure what sets me apart from the others, I don’t like to compare myself. I just love my customers and I love creating for them!
Do you recommend any apps, books or podcasts that have been helpful to you?
I honestly wish that I could read more or listen to podcasts. That’s one of my goals, to find a podcast that I can relate to and listen to consistently. Right now, it’s just me, my sewing machine, and Netflix (which is hard because I sit down sewing all day so I finish everything so quickly!!)
