Meet Trailblazer Evelyn Faria

Today we’d like to introduce you to Evelyn Faria.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Evelyn. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Honestly, I would say I didn’t know I was “starting.” I was following my instincts and doing what I truly love despite what people said or how much money others earn in some areas or industries. By the time, I had to decide what professional career I was going to pursue in the University. The Government was closing Media Production companies and Radio Broadcasting centers; my country was (and still is) facing a Dictatorship. However, I didn’t abandon my dream. I knew my final goal was to be happy and share my knowledge and talent. I studied Mass Communications.

Then, I took decisions throughout my career and the following years (whether good or bads), and that’s what has built who I am today. Of course, I made mistakes or nailed it. Everything is a process. What has brought me to where I am today is trusting my instincts and follow my heart.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a rollercoaster. It is easy in this era to feel you are not good enough. Everyone is an “expert” and there is always someone that will criticize you. I left my home country, I started in a new one, and I was completely scared. However, I like to remind myself that when I feel that way it means I am alive and that I am growing both as a human being and as a professional. I’m still scared, but that’s what life is about.

Something that truly helps me is to think of those obstacles I was terrified about in the past and I have overcome. It is at that very moment when I realize I am good enough and I can deal with anything. I just have to believe in myself and, of course, believe in the process.

Let yourself BE!

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a media producer and digital marketing specialist. I am proud of people believing in my work due to what I do. I do it with passion and people notice that.

I think I am a sensitive person and I can connect or engage with people, whether they know me or not. Many people have told me I have a “vibe” they feel comfortable with. I think that’s what sets me apart from others.

So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well positioned for?
Of course. I feel nowadays there are opportunities for everyone. With the advent of the Internet and the freelancing world, for example, more and more women are taking advantage of their capabilities and demonstrating they are good enough for any position. We have seen women in different areas and being recognized for their work.
