Meet Trailblazer Daila Beasley and LaTish Roach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daila Beasley and LaTish Roach.

Daila and LaTish, please share your story with us.
I am 6 years old and I love fashion, sports, entertainment, and health. My mom (LaTish) has owned her own entertainment and marketing company for 10 years and started this business for me when I was 2 years old. At this time, we were living bicoastal in Los Angeles, CA and Miami, FL. My mom had started me in modeling and I loved it. I’m always asked how did I come up with Sunni Dai. My dad always called me Sunni Dai (Daila abbreviated) and I decided to use it for my business. I have always been into fashion since a baby. I did my first show in 2014 with only Miami brands and around 35 models. This year, we are going into our 5th season and now have designers showcasing from all over and over 65 models. My main job is creative director. I come up with all the ideas and creative concepts for the production. I focus on the colors I want in the show and all the cool designs. The main thing Sunni Dai focus on is community and friendships. Every year, we give back to the community and many kids in the industry meet forever friends. Our first year, we spent time at Joe DiMaggio children hospital making necklaces and painting with children. Every year, we do something different. Last year, we teamed up and created the FRESH Foundation which provides a kids awards show for kids by kids. We will be doing our kid FRESH awards again this year and honoring some amazing kids in the community. This year I’m painting and creating some cool things for the production.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has been a huge struggle. You have to do a lot of branding for your company especially if the business does not exist. You have to also be firm with your business plan. If you want to maintain a certain image for your brand stick to that. Don’t change it if something doesn’t work out keep going until something works out. Be careful who you allow partnerships with and business ideas. Everyone doesn’t want to put in the work they just want to copy your blueprint. Be patient and do tons of research before you launch the project. Believe in yourself and go for your dreams even if they have seen unattainable at the moment.

Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
I’ve always researched everything I wanted to learn about the business. I found events that were similar to mine but created on a bigger scale and attended those events. It help me understand the layout of different productions. I also interned for companies to see what area I was most passionate about. Experience is key and is very important. Partnership: Partner with companies that have the same goals and vision as your company. It will help with introducing your clients to their brand and vice versa. Inviting potential clients and guest to my event has helped a lot with networking. It gives them almost a freebie of what to expect if hired. Daily has attended multiple kids fashion events as the face of the brand. She has learned to speak in front of crowds and market her own brand.
