Meet Tennille Martinez of Ms. Virtual Maven in Fort Lauderdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tennille Martinez.

Tennille, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started this business four years ago while working as a teacher in Miami. Teachers typically don’t earn a lot of money and often work multiple jobs. I wanted to do something that was non-school related. In my search, I stumbled upon being a Virtual Assistant and blogging. Since I had experience doing a variety of things as a teacher – creating worksheets, social media, editing, graphic design, pretty much all the things. I started a Virtual Assistant business where I offered administrative and social media services virtually.

As I grew in my business, I realized that Pinterest Marketing was my absolutely favorite service to offer entrepreneurs, bloggers, and life coaches. It combined all of the components I enjoy most – designing graphics, using data to make decisions, writing catchy keyword-rich descriptions, and strategizing with my clients on targeted future plans for their content and business.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has definitely not been smooth. I started this business as a necessity to increase my finances but managed to find something else that allowed my creativity soar. My love and passion for teaching and education have never wavered, but the amount I earned wasn’t enough. I taught night school and tutored for extra money, which caused time constraints and never seeing my family or home. Working extra jobs didn’t provide the flexibility and options that worked best for me. In my search, I found something that fit me perfectly and on my terms.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Ms. Virtual Maven – what should we know?
Ms. Virtual Maven is a Pinterest Marketing and Management business. We work with entrepreneurs, bloggers and coaches in establishing a presence and generating traffic on Pinterest, a visual search engine utilized by over 335 million users. We work alongside content creators and entrepreneurs in getting more eyes on their websites and blogs.

I have worked with new and seasoned bloggers and entrepreneurs in creating and developing a comprehensive and strategic marketing plan for their business using Pinterest. Working with a Pinterest strategist allows for planning, idea generation, and implementing plans with detailed focus. My favorite news to hear from clients is that their email list and traffic has grown exponentially.

What sets me apart from the rest is that I take a vested interest in my client’s business. Our monthly planning sessions offer the opportunity for us to strategize wins for their business. I’m an extension of my clients’ business. If my clients win, I win.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
As I started on this journey, I had to do a lot of mindset work and research in starting a business online. Unknowingly, I built relationships with notable bloggers because I enjoyed their content and message. I had no idea that building those relationships would have set the course in starting my business. Nurturing relationships just for the simple desire of connecting with others, proved to be pivotal in the evolution of my business. I am an advocate for connecting, networking, and supporting others in their craft for no other reason than you want to see them succeed.

After attending a workshop offered by George Torres, @urbanjibaro – a content creator and blogger from New York, I knew that I wanted to do something online. After refining my business idea with his mentorship, I connected with Kathy Cano Murillo, @CraftyChica – author, artist, speaker, who was looking for a Virtual Assistant. This sparked the beginning of a business that has morphed into what it is now. It didn’t’ start this way, but it has transformed into a business that has taken me to conferences around the US and speaking at workshops about Pinterest with the Ft. Lauderdale Bloggers, Orlando Bloggers, and Social Media Day Tampa Bay.

I would be remiss to say that it is extremely important to have a squad – a group of people that will be honest, truthful, and supportive during this journey. It can get lonely working virtually without others to discuss ideas or even vent when things just aren’t going right. I couldn’t do this without my squad – Barbara Chaney, Dani Faust, Patti Haus and Michelle Lowery.
