Meet Tavares Beverly of Beverly Boy Productions Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tavares Beverly.

Tavares, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We started this production company in 2002 in downtown Miami. We began working on regional TV commercials for local businesses in the South Florida market. Beverly Boy soon began to gain a lot of references, and word of mouth started to spread due to our great customer service, and attention to detail. We soon branched out into producing high level corporate videos, and large-scale marketing videos for larger clients. In 2008 we had the opportunity to work with the Hillary Clinton campaign on a commercial, and began working a lot in the branding, and branded video content arena.

In 2009 we were affected but the economic downturn in America, and tightened our bootstraps, our goal was to stay afloat until things picked up. We were able to make it though, and by 2010 we began producing a number of reality show production, this took us into different cities across America, and allowed us to make great connections with production crews all over the US. By 2012 we were approached by an agency up north, they asked if we could help them with a very large multi city project, that would require multiple film crews working sometimes simultaneously.

Beverly Boy Productions jumped at the chance to take on this challenge! We utilized the resources that we gained over the years and called on our production partners across the country to meet our clients demanding production requirements. We were able to satisfy all of our clients’ needs in the US as well as a few in other parts of the world. Now with a solid foundation of film crews in major cities, we offered this client the opportunity to continue to work in this capacity, and they continued to put us to task. Before we knew it, the word had spread, and we began to work with multiple clients who needed similar video production services. Beverly Boy now produces multiple video projects per week, for clients large and small all across the globe, from major brands, to fortune 100 companies, and small businesses, we have become the go-to-guys for all things video production. Beverly Boy Productions is now a Global video production company with operations in multiple major cities across the US and around the world.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
During the economic downturn between 2008 – 2010 we, like many other businesses in our industry saw a steep decline in projects. Our clients were putting their annual budgets on hold, and it seemed that no one was spending money in video production.

We had to tighten our boot straps and figure out a way to survive this storm. These were probably the darkest days for us. It was very scary going from 100 to 0 in a few months.

Our team had families, mortgage, rent, car payments…etc. We had to figure out a way to make it through. At this time the only thing we could rely on was the same faith that kept us strong when we started this business. We had to believe that as my grandmother use to say “this too shall pass”. And that it did.

With the explosion of video channels and Smartphone use came the growth of the video production industry. Companies like Beverly Boy Productions, who were there on the ground floor of this technological revolution, have had the incredible opportunity to witness the changes as they occurred and adapt their production techniques along with them. Working with companies like MTV, Taco Bell, or the Weather Channel to produce video ads and content marketing tools has helped Beverly Boy to develop their experience and grow a robust reputation in their field. If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
As the CEO of this company, I would have started earlier! Hindsight is always 20/20, so it’s easy to look back and say what I would have done differently. Knowing what I know now, I definitely would have gotten a jump on things at a younger age. I spent a lot of time in my earlier years wasting time and resources on things that may not have been meant for me. Now I am able to provide for my family and support over 200 vendors across the globe, this definitely feels like the right path. I certainly would have paid more attention in 6th grade math, and spelling! LOL! I would have attended less parties in college. Definitely would have invested any little money that I made in the early years into my business. But all in all, I can’t say I have many regrets, we are truly blessed to be in the position we are in.
