Today we’d like to introduce you to Symone Ambrose.
Symone, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I came out of high school as a B/C average student. I started off in college as a pre-nursing major. Completed my first two years and had to sit out of school for a few months while I was pregnant with my daughter at the age of 20 years old. Three weeks after she was born, I jumped right back into school. Now, entering the nursing program alongside trying to balance being a new mom, I’d have to say was one of the most trying times of my life… so I thought! Throughout nursing school, I failed three classed total, all missed by 2% or less. Each time I had to retake a class, I had a three-month wait before I was able to continue. Finishing nursing school finally in 2015 was only half of the battle.
Now, time to take my state board exam. (NCLEX). I HAD TO TAKE THE NCLEX a total of three times before passing. Imagine knowing that it was one test in between you and your dream job, something you’ve wanted since the age six or seven years old! With limited expenses and constantly having to stress ways to pay for retakes and testing programs. Well, the third time was a charm for me. Finally, I can place those two initials behind my name. Now, on to the job search. It took me four months to land a position in adult ICU. After training for five months, I was let go without an explanation. My confidence was SHATTERED. But I knew for my sanity and for my daughter, I had to keep pushing. I kept my faith and understood that what’s meant for you will never ever pass you by! I landed a position four months later in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a position I could only dream to have!
As I grew in this specialty, I won’t say I had the perfect journey, I won’t say I wasn’t discriminated against, I won’t say I didn’t experience indirect bullying, I won’t say there were only happy times. But I was there to blossom and grow into the person I worked so hard to be. None of which stopped me from landing two news segments spots during nurses week as a hometown hero! It still didn’t stop me from gaining the skills needed to save babies for a living. Even though I love my job as a Neonate Critical Care Nurse, the beauty in healthcare is that you can venture out in many different lines of work. I have recently partaken a special interest in aesthetics/dermatology and have now been training with one of Miami’s top Physician Assistants, Tanya Patron, as I cross over into the cosmetics side of nursing!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I included full details of my journey in the initial description of how I got where I am today. Including my struggles. 😉
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Mone516 story. Tell us more about it.
I recently started my website and will be putting the cutest products there from time to time! I will also soon link some fun career/lifestyle videos there as well!
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t really rely on or blame luck personally. In my case, I whole-heartedly believe in perfect timing and faith.
