Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacy Paret.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Stacy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I get very excited about dessert! I am a lover of almost all cakes (not fruit-sorry!), cookies, pies and pastries! Wherever I travel, you will find me in the local bakeries gathering as many goodies as I can try! (I also love to support local!) I have loved baked goods and baking since I was 6 with my first Betty Crocker oven and chocolate brownie mix (which I only sometimes baked because the batter was so good!). I was also thoroughly inspired by my grandmother who prepared and displayed her beautiful cakes, fried apple pies and cookies whenever we would visit. It was often our welcomed excuse to linger at the table after a Sunday lunch and enjoy a bite of everything sweet she had to offer.
Along with her, it was my happy place and I feel compelled to share it. I graduated college with a degree in business and have a professional background in retail management and accounting, I worked for many years in these fields, but I always knew (ardently hoped) that I would end up taking this on as a business. I spent lunch hours creating menus and baking for hours in the evenings to see it come to life. Once I married and had children, I decided to stay home and raise my kids. I also wanted to see if I could raise a business as well with my very supportive family. I put what I loved out there to see if it had legs to grow, and it has in so many ways! I have had some amazing opportunities and have worked with some great clients, generous pastry chefs and other professionals that have taught me a lot about the business! It’s hard work but I love creating beautiful and delicious desserts! I can’t imagine doing anything else!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I started out selling wholesale for a local bakery and caterer and I loved both of them dearly. I was taking a ton of orders from them and staying busy, which I loved but. I was seldom home and realized although it was working for me professionally, it was not working for me and my young family. I had to step back and reassess and figure out my path because I was a little bit everywhere in figuring it out. I did a lot of researching, classes, training and finding my path in what I really wanted to do. I had to be honest with myself a lot and really find what I could have the most success in doing and trusting it. It was not always easy.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Sweet Stacy’s PB story. Tell us more about the business.
