Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Carson Kutuchief.
Dr. Kutuchief, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have always been interested in Athletics and how to heel or enhance the human body. I think my Midwest roots inspired me to want to help others. These two interests sparked my enthusiasm to be a physical therapist. After graduate school, I worked for another company for 5 years to gain experience and further my education. I always wanted to open my own practice in the south end of Fort Lauderdale because of its vibrant lifestyle and the energy Las produces. Once I signed a lease and started construction, I worked as a private contractor to keep and build upon my book of business and stay relevant with orthopedic surgeons. The day we opened I was able to transition my patients to the new facility and SoFloPT was born. I attribute the great success SoFloPT has had in just one year to my incredible staff and our great work ethic.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The quote “nothing worth having comes easy,” – Roosevelt, seems to apply in this case.
We had construction and build out delays that lasted longer than 16 weeks and faced 6 different commercial insurances that had closed networks meaning they would not allow SoFloPT to join or see their patients. After being very persistent, over 50 letters written by patients, and one full year of waiting for contracts to be finalized, we were able to become in network with all commercial insurances with the exception of one.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the South Florida Physical therapy and Sports Rehab story. Tell us more about the business.
We are a new modern facility located in the heart of down town Fort Lauderdale just a few blocks from Las Olas. Our doctors provide physical therapy for any orthopedic surgical and non-surgical injury.
Word of mouth has been our strongest marketing tool, our patients have been very pleased with the exceptional care, hands on treatment, and clean modern environment they receive at SoFloPT. We are a unique setting in the sense that we go above and beyond to give every patient an exceptional experience.
I have come in early or on a Saturday because the patient was coming out of surgery and needed PT ASAP, I have gone to nearby commercial gyms with the patient to set them up on a program, our front desk coordinator helps every patient navigate through complicated insurance information often times saving them money and frustration. We strive to give every patient the personal attention they need to heal properly, our goal is to make SoFloPT not just an experience but a lifestyle.
