Meet Sandrine Poirier of Something Perfect

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandrine Poirier.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We left France for different reasons. In a month, we sold everything (house, car, furniture) bought back pack and traveled the world (with 3 kids) during one year and half to find a place to live. we decided to stay in Miami, simply because here its the place for my job, nail technician specialist in design and nail trainer as well. I owned my salon for 4 years, after a flood damage, in tears I had to leave my salon.

Has it been a smooth road?
Smooth road, of course. When you leave your country to live in another one you have lots of difficult steps My first difficulty was the language. Doing all permits for the salon and myself but My English was poor, it’s still basic, but finally funny and exotic for American people. after that when I first came in the clients were afraid because I was looking young, so inexperienced. They were afraid because they thought I was a beginner in my job. In fact, it took time but I won their trust. Now, the most difficult thing is not to maintain my reputation but dealing with new trend who change constantly. When you start from 0 to 5,on yelp, I can consider that once you are determined everything can happen.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Something perfect story. Tell us more about the business.
I am nail trainer, CND certified (it’s a well known brand in nail area) I am specialist in nail design. I work only with nontoxic products, I respect my client’s nails, I do my job by passion and not for money, that means if the client wants something but her nails are damaged, I don’t do anything but I give her organic tips to follow. Some of them call me “the Nail doctor” . I never sell products. Olive oil, coconut oil, vitamins, castor oil, recipe. And it works. So I am well known as a real nail specialist on the beach who can help you if you have nail problems. Real known as nail shape specialist. Real known as someone fair and honest. And I am proud. After so many years working hard, my company is the first on yelp’s top 10 with 5 stars, 3 times in the row awarded as best nail salon of Miami Beach. NBC 6 came to my salon and investigated to understand why and how, according to my clients my salon was so clean… You can check on Google. I did some celebrities like Lily Allen, Snoop Dog, Fantasia Barino and more. The problem is, I didn’t recognized them. Each time it was my neighbors you came to see me to congrats. I also worked for radical media, on Adidas advertising.

But my main objectify is keep having a hidden gem, a family place. Every time a client enters in my salon she will be treated as a family member, as a friend and not as a wallet.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The nail industry already changed a lot. Each Brand Improve Their Products To Become Healthiest. And prevision are difficult, because the clients are more And more picky And health department as well. That’s good. I will Follow the new trend of course. if they respect my clients and their needs, I would try everything. having a hidden gem, a family place. Every time a client enters in my salon she will be treated as a family member, as a friend and not as a wallet.
