Today we’d like to introduce you to Shelly Nunez.
Shelly, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was a single mother on a mission! Honestly, I wanted to just be able to fully support my daughter by myself and give her anything she needed. I quickly fell in love with the beauty industry and providing makeup application for events. Then, I trained and humbly started doing eyelash extensions from home. After a year of building loyal clients, I moved into a small suite trying to grow my business. I learned more skills such as microblading for eyebrows. I hired on Cristina, an amazing esthetician of over 25 years experience and together, we decided to do more and more services! From Facials to Waxing to Body Treatments. We moved into a larger salon and included Skin Tightening Treatments & Needleless Fillers. I hired on Master Artist Katy for Microblading Eyebrows and she creates the most beautiful, realistic eyebrows you could find! We began training others to do eyelash extensions and microblading for brows. We have come a long way since doing eyelashes from my house but I still have many loyal clients till this day that come and have seen my journey these past three and a half years. We cannot wait for what else is in store for us!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a financial struggle to rise up while growing a business. Having the funds needed to support marketing our business as we were growing. And then, having a big enough place to employ the people needed to supply the clients with services. It’s been a steady climb to the top with times, I thought I might just sell it all and leave it behind because of the stress. But it has all been so worth it! This business has helped me grow personally in so many ways.
Please tell us more about your work. What do you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
Eyelash Extensions, Facials, Microblading Eyebrows, Skin Tightening, Waxing, Makeup Application, Body Treatments, Needleless Fillers and Lash Lift/Tint. We all take such pride in all of our work and we personally promote our own photos of clients on our own social media accounts. We make a point to be a family team at the spa and you can really feel that atmosphere when you come in! We strive for complete customer satisfaction and that is why they keep coming back and telling all their friends!
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Having my 10-year-old daughter watch me grow the business and help me along the way. She is so motivated to be whatever she wants to be, create whatever life or career or business she dreams of. She was always my motivation and now, I am hers. She looks up to me and has learned that hard work, dedication and spirit can make her dreams a reality.
