Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaina Louis.
Shaina, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I had a passion for empowering women since I was little, living in Haiti my mother used to do the same. Haitian Girls Fest is a celebration of everything that I have been through and studied. I want to create a space for women to feel beautiful and help gain customers, sales, and money for their art or business. To get to where I am right now, I had to endure a lot of heartache and personal disappointments. I also had a lot of people that believed me and my vision. God is who deserves to be credited for my progress thus far.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road, but I would do it again and again. Some struggles I have experienced is balancing school and my dream. I am still a student, managing my own business. The biggest struggle is location. Second is the branding and marketing. Those two can make or break an event. It usually comes together.
Please tell us about Haitian Girls Fest.
Haitian Girls Fest is the first and only Festival style event where Haitian women are the primary focus. We give a platform for women to come together and promote their art and talent. We are proud because we are a small business with great influence and social responsibility.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood is going to the beach with my friends in Haiti.
