Today we’d like to introduce you to Sebastian Schurmann.
Sebastian, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As a young entrepreneur, I always found myself wanting to solve a solution and capitalize, but you see my incentives are much greater than the actual parts itself. In my life, I have been blessed to travel many parts of the world and see the culture of other beautiful countries. As an American, I saw first hand what the world was like and how privileged we are here in the United States. One thing that shocked me was world hunger, it amazed me that we have the resources and food to feed the world 5x a day. Yet there hasn’t been big strides in helping end world hunger.
While I looked into ways to help, I realized you needed to really have the capital to help invest towards ending world hunger. Now how I came into the Acai world is unique, I saw a problem and saw a way to change it. As a Brazilian, I’ve had Acai many years ago in Brazil. When all these new places popped up and started selling Acai as a healthy alternative to many of the saturated foods we have in our culture, I saw the opportunity to give people what they really wanted. Real Deal Acai.
After going to a bunch of Acai places I saw the quality of their product. It did not compare to the Brazilian Acai I’ve had many times before. Opportunity soon hit me in the face when Acai Concept came into Coconut Creek, and when I tried their Acai I was sold. The concept was so unique and the Acai was to die for, there had finally been a game changer. Not only is Acai very healthy, but its a food I think is here to stay as healthy snack/meal. It took 8 months from the idea to get where I am now and It’s been a lot of work, but I cannot wait to finally provide the real Brazilian Acai to South Florida.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In life, there are many things that work against you, but it is up to us to overcome and learn from these obstacles.
With this new concept, I did have people question our idea, but when I first-hand had my experience at the first store I saw myself how unique it was. In other aspects, I do deal with my Investors but luckily communication is a strong suit, which is crucial to surviving these types of startups.
Acai Concept – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We specialize in Acai, Tapioca, and Coffee. All of our products come directly from Brazil, all imported. Our concept is unique because we make custom Acai cups, making the customer choose whatever they please. We tried to be different in the game as to have what you really want with Acai.
Some other places don’t really give you that options and if they do, there are typically extra charges are included. Not only is our concept unique but our Acai comes from Brazil, imported frozen and served fresh to you at our locations. We pride our-self in delivering high-quality Acai and bringing that Brazilian culture all in one package.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment has definitely opened up this business and grow from this to start my many ventures. From having the idea of making it all happen, it truly was a fun/stressful experience but at the end all worth it. When you work hard things they make it that much more special when it works out.
