Meet Scott Medley of Seeman Holtz Private Client Group in Boca Raton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott Medley.

Scott, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Growing up, my father always told me to work for yourself, don’t work for someone else. Out of college, I started in the financial services industry and learned a lot about people. I learned how to network and that knowing the right people is the best way to succeed. From there, I was introduced to property and casualty insurance (think homeowners, auto, flood, etc.). In 2006, I started my first agency with a business partner. We sold the first policy in Starbucks, high-fived each other and then said, “Now what?” In 2009, we were approached by some local businessmen to start another agency with them that focused on highly-successful individuals and families. I became an expert in that niche market which has led to what I do today. During that time, I saw the birth of my two children, buyout of a business partner, changes in the industry and a divorce. In 2016, I sold both of my agencies to Seeman Holtz Private Client Group. I focus on providing insurance solutions to highly-successful individuals and families.

From a personal standpoint, I enjoy being active. A few years ago, I started competing in endurance sports. I have competed in half marathons, marathons and triathlons, including half Ironman’s. When not working or training, I enjoy spending time with my kids.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think if life is smooth you’re either dead or not living life. I have certainly experiences struggles along the way. I had a disagreement with a close business partner which led to our split. I’ve struggled financially when I lost a large client. The insurance industry is changing and it affects my business, sometimes for the better and other times for the worse. But it’s all in how you handle it. Having a positive outlook is key.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Seeman Holtz Private Client Group – what should we know?
The agency is a national firm that has grown through acquisitions. Seeman Holtz started out in the financial services industry in 1998. A couple years ago, they entered the property and casualty insurance space. I was third acquisition and since they have completed over 30 more. I am a client advisor that provides insurance solutions for highly-successful individuals and families. We have been extremely successful in reviewing clients portfolios to find coverage deficiencies they were not aware of.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The ability to relate to people. I am in the people business. Insurance is not sexy but the value it provides is like no other. People want to know you care.
