Meet Savanna Pena of Slayed by Sav in Kendall

Today we’d like to introduce you to Savanna Pena.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Savanna. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My personal makeup journey started when I gained an interest in YouTube and Instagram videos. I’d watch videos and tutorials all day long and would buy new products here and there. Trying new techniques and playing with new makeup made me so happy and excited – I thought I had just found a new hobby.
When I started modeling in late 2017, I would do my own makeup for photoshoots. As I met more photographers and models, they’d ask me to help out with makeup and of course, I happily agreed. Mind you, I didn’t have a client kit, necessary tools for clients, or really the confidence to work on other faces! But after the first few clients I had, I grew so in love with being a part of a creative vision that I continued!
Makeup was a fun hobby for me in the beginning, but now it is my full time job and a passion of mine that keeps me going.

Has it been a smooth road?
This is a tough question. Like any other journey, there is no such thing as a smooth road. I have had many ups and downs, zig zags and moving backwards. However, at the end of the day I still love what I do and I wouldn’t trade the tough days for anything. Those days are the most important, because they teach you lessons you absolutely need. So while it is most definitely not a smooth road, it FEELS as if it is when you love what you do and even the downs feel rewarding.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Slayed by Sav story. Tell us more about the business.
I provide makeup services for any occasion, and I specialize in beauty, editorial, and fashion.
While makeup varies for different occasions, I take pride in always making the client feel like themselves. My job is to accentuate your already beautiful features, not turn you into someone you don’t recognize (or love) in the mirror.

What sets me apart from others is how I take care of my clients, both in and out of my chair. While with me I strive to make everyone feel comfortable and relaxed, and afterwards I often hear, “You’re the first makeup artist I’ve met to provide this!” as I love gifting my clients with goodies when they’re done in my chair.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Over the next 5-10 years, I see myself growing immensely. I’ve only been in this industry for around 6 months and I’ve seen an insane amount of growth.

I definitely see myself growing as a bridal makeup artist. There’s just something about making a woman feel her most beautiful on such an important day in her life!
