Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandra Leon.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Sandra. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started when I was 15, I always wanted to be a stylist, I remember skipping class just to go to a neighborhood salon just to see people do hair.
I started experimenting with friends, family, and neighbors, and at age 15 began working in a small salon in my hometown Guira de Melena, Cuba (Small agricultural town known for Potatoes and Tobacco)
Months later I began working in Havana, Cuba in another salon, where I learned everything, which was my “real” school.
Eight years later in 2013, I moved to Miami where I started working in a Salon until I decided that I had to open mine, which I did six months ago!
I am 29 years old, its been a crazy ride going from a small town girl to salon owner in another country with eight stylists and two employees!
I am thankful each and every day for the people I’ve met, the clients I’ve done and every person I’ve worked with.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
In Havana, since I was the youngest, I had to deal with all the work no one wanted to do, from super early to super late. No compassion.
Although I try its very difficult to please every client all the time.
Here in the US, I struggle with language a lot, as my English is not very good.
As a Salon owner now I have to deal with over 300 clients each month which can be very challenging but is going good tho and everyone’s happy!
Please tell us about Hair and Love Salon.
I am a stylist, I specialize in Color and Extensions. Most of my clients come for Balayage and Extensions. I am known for my quality of work, my attention to detail and dedication to my work and clients.
I am very proud of everything! My team is amazing, the quality of work that my salon is putting out is terrific. The happiness, the love, the attention to each client inside the salon is what sets us apart from everyone else, clients feel at home, they laugh, they’re respected, they are leaving beautiful and happy, that’s my main goal.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for 2019 are to provide the best service I can, making all my stylists even better at what they do and continue to provide the customer service we’re known for.
