Meet Rocio Pamanes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rocio Pamanes.

Rocio, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born in Texas, raised in Mexico. I started painting and acting since I was little. I acted at school plays and at local theaters. My parents at that time didn’t let me to pursue acting as a professional career, I kept trying but nothing seemed to convince them. When I was in high school, I started working as an art teacher for kids.

After I finished high school I moved To El Paso Texas, I started college there, but since I never quit pursuing my dream of being an actress, One day my parents told me “we’ve decided and we will support your acting career”, it was one of the best days of my life. I went to study acting in New York. I studied two techniques; Meisner at William Esper Studio and Michael Chekhov with Lenard Petit. I was in independent play productions in NYC. After that I decided to move to Miami, here in Miami I started working first at an art gallery/studio as the one who made all the logistics in the studio and how the exhibitions should go.

Also, in the same studio, I was an art teacher for kids. While working there, I started studying at the Adriana Barraza, where I filmed two short films directed by her. I was chosen by Conecta arts Miami along with other actor friends to present a monologue weekend and we were chosen to participate at the Open Arts Miami theater festival. In 2018 I created a short film “WOMINS” Produced by me. It was shown at the NOLA festival for women’s international day. In 2019 I created a short film “suffocated in society” represented by ” A complete” a women face creams and produced by Cine Vibes. I also started studying Meisner with Sebastian Ligarde. This year I’m starting with a show “Un año más” it’s a Monologue show with two more actors, produced by Manuel Cabrera. Which sadly had to be cancelled Because of COVID-19. We will have more dates after all these go back to “normal”. Regarding the “ART” area, I’m working at an art gallery in South Beach.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, It hasn’t been a smooth road. At first, it was constant fights with my parents until I “won” the fights and started studying what I wanted to study. The not knowing NO ONE in the film/theater Industry. I’m going to say at first and the most common struggle is ” procrastination,” but after you say Enough of not doing what I have to do, then you have a big step forward. It’s when all the magic begins. How? By CREATING WHAT YOU WANT TO LIVE IN YOUR LIFE. A lot of times you’ll have to say no to your friends because you have to focus on your life goals.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I’m known for “Lucia”, ” Historias en un cuarto de hotel”, “WOMINS”, “Suffocated in society”. “BABE” en el monologo de “crímenes del corazón”. In the moment, I’m working in a show “Un Año Más” directed by Neher Jacqueline Briceño and produced by Manuel Cabrera. Also, I’m producing and acting in a movie in Mexico (I can’t say much about it, because it still in the process.)

What set me apart from others? I think we all are uniques. Each one of us is different. The only difference is who is willing to work and to make all the sacrifices required to accomplish what you want in life.

What were you like growing up?
Hahaha well, I was (still in a way) very active and mischievous when I was little. I remember I always at all family reunions or anywhere I could. I made plays to entertain everyone in the party. Also something I like to do since little is to bake! When I give myself the time to do it t’s like a meditation for me, I really enjoy it! Also I was born in a very spiritual family and the “road to spirituality” it has always been in my life, Because of that I do my best to be the best version of myself every day.
