Meet Roberto Gonzalez of PereGonza Law Group in Doral Florida

Today we’d like to introduce you to Roberto Gonzalez.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Roberto. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there. I grew up in Miami Dade, specifically the Sweetwater area. I attended Everglades Elementary, Stirrup Elementary Ruben Dario Middle School and Coral Park High School. As a child, my parents always stressed the importance of believing in yourself and striving to be the best. This has always stuck to me and has always made me want to learn how to be better at everything I do, almost to an obsessive point. I’ve always loved to learn but unfortunately for me, being intelligent was never “cool” and struggling to be accepted along with several factors of my immediate surroundings made me turn to the wrong crowd and forced me into bad decisions that limited my options for college and success. In the end, I had no one to blame but myself and I do not regret anything, the trials and tribulations I went through made me the man I am today.

There are several negotiation tactics and business principles that I learned on the street with people that where far from formally educated but exposed me to a different type of intellect. As a teen I turned to music and was able to get 3 deals on record labels as a recording artist but neither of those deals flourished to what I think could have been, mostly due to my lack of business ambition, again, I do not regret any of this, I am firm believer that everything in life happens for a reason and fate mixed with hard work and failure will guide you towards your true calling. In college I was able to land a scholarship through my mother’s employment with St Thomas University where I was able to graduate with a degree in Literature and a minor in Philosophy. While attending college, I worked many odd jobs including server, construction-worker, cashier, fast food employee, exterminator, retail worker among many more.

My favorite job by far, was as a personal trainer, where I had the opportunity to inspire others to transform their bodies and health. It was in this job that I formally learned sales, marketing and closing tactics along with networking. While I worked as a trainer in Coral Gables I met my current mentor, a prominent lobbyist in Florida who impacted my perception of success and inspired me to be more. At the time I was working there, my girlfriend, at the time, became pregnant with my beautiful daughter. Knowing I would be a father, wanting to be a good example for my child and a key conversation I had with my mentor compelled me to quit my job and apply to law school. Many people said I’d never make it through law school and many said I would never get in, but I studied and committed to my success for my child’s future. Upon entering law school I was overwhelmed with difficult material and even though it was difficult I managed to get through my first year and ended up graduating in just 2 and a half years, I went in to get out and start practicing asap. My entire law school experience was shared with my current best friend and business partner Juan Perez who like me came from nothing. Our parents were not wealthy, they couldn’t help us financially but they gave us a sense of confidence and determination as immigrants that made it nearly impossible to discourage our path. I passed the bar in 2015 and I got a great job.

Just 6 months after becoming an attorney my business partner and I decided to quit our good jobs and start our own business with no capital and only one client. The rest is history, we have been in business for a year and a half and we have a nice office in the Sweetwater Doral area along with 6 employees. We are the official attorneys for the Doral Chamber of Commerce and even provide help for the community to non-profits through our representation. We have been blessed with success and PereGonza Law Group continues to grow every day. We just recently added another department of real estate to the firm and we continue to draw new great ventures for the future. I think that it is essential to struggle at one point in order to properly value an end goal. The way to success is by trial and error and I feel my journey is just taking off.
