Today we’d like to introduce you to Ra Image.
Ra, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a mixed media artist from Miami, FL I started creating and studying different forms of art in my senior year of high school. Originally I had an interest in creating a fashion line and learned videography from a close friend. Since then, I have been experimenting with graphic design, photography, and videography collectively in my work.
Has it been a smooth road?
In the beginning, I was actually enlisted in the marine corp for combat photography right after high school but it ended up not working out due to the job not existing in the first place so it was a bit confusing I didn’t think I would seek a career in art afterward but the art museum I interned at MOCA Art Museum offered me a job due to situation. It was only 7$ an hour but I was able to take free art classes for assisting the department of education.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I like to create a wide range of projects I do my best not to limit myself on what I’m interested in creating. Lately, I’ve been experimenting with 3d artwork and fantasy-like photography with photoshop. I specialize in special effects or VFX anything out of the normal from cutting out eyes for a music video to making a moon float in someone’s hand. I feel my art is most known for a lot of the explicit content I release every now and then. I’m most proud of being able to communicate emotion in my work along with a fantasy. I’m not afraid to go completely left and create what most people would consider too much.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love almost everything about my city. I travel when I can for work and there has yet to be a state or country even that can compare to home. I feel like what I like best is being able to experience so many cultures on a day to day basis. What I least like about our city would be the lack of opportunity for our local artists on major platforms.
