Today we’d like to introduce you to Parker Lee and Rafael Rabell.
Enigmatic’s story started in December of 2017 with the idea that Enigmatic would be a production company to house and self start-up Parker’s own films and feature-length movie scripts while he was a sophomore in college at Tallahassee Community College. Deciding to approach his college roommate and longtime best friend Rafael Rabell, Enigmatic quickly went from several scripts and a few logos/merchandise designs to a full-fledged framework for a multimedia platform housed in Raf and Parker’s hometown of Orlando, Florida that incorporated music, film, and street fashion.
By August of 2018, the two officially launched Enigmatic’s first line, website, and begun rolling out creative content like music videos, interviews, weekly articles, and short documentaries all while the two still spent the majority of their time as full-time college students working multiple jobs.
As Rafael stayed in Tallahassee and graduated from Florida State University in December of 2019 with a degree in Hospitality, Parker transferred (after internships in the film industry in LA and NYC with HBO) to Columbia College of Chicago where he graduated in May of 2020 with his degree in Cinematography.
During that time, the two have grown Enigmatic exponentially with tours and shows throughout Florida featuring prominent up and coming rap artists such as Quin NFN, Caleborate, Mir Fontane, Danny Towers, and many more. On the media side, Rafael and Parker are accredited with the production of over seventy-five music videos to date, over a dozen short documentaries, and a short film with former Super Bowl Champion Malcolm Mitchell that has garnered international recognition and is currently on the film festival circuit worldwide.
Although COVID-19 has slowed down business for many, the two look at it as a unique opportunity and blessing to ‘even the playing field’ and allow them to perfect their own crafts as their business model continues to grow. With expansion into new music genres outside of Hip-Hop, a reimagined fashion line, and professional level creative content the two are eager to embrace the new normal.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not smooth in any way. From working as many as three jobs each to get things off the ground initially, to battling constant school work, and even having to work as business partners from different sides of the country, there were certainly more than a few challenges. Along the way, the two learned to embrace different roles and adapt to whatever was needed. Picking up new tools under the belt and never backing away from a challenge.
Enigmatic Entertainment – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
