Meet Osleivy Llano of Red Lips Makeup Artistry in Hialeah

Today we’d like to introduce you to Osleivy Llano.

Osleivy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I received some harsh criticism when I first started; people said I would never amount to anything, and their words hurt. The truth is: I would not be the successful makeup artist I am today without that criticism. All my life I have been in love with the makeup industry and its famous makeup gurus. I decided to take a leap of faith and make makeup my career about 4 years ago. By the age of 18, I was a licensed optician, so this leap was going to be a drastic change of career direction. Before I left my full-time job at an optical in Miami Lakes, Florida my priority was being an optician. I was an optician during weekdays and a makeup artist on nights and weekends. To say the least, I was working well over the regular 40 hours a week. To no surprise, it became difficult to juggle both careers, and I realized that it was time to make a choice. Luckily, the opportunity of a lifetime arose, and I was able to transition myself from optician to full time makeup artist. My life has had its share of turmoil. My dream did not become a reality overnight. Without that turmoil, I would not be where I am today. Pursuing my passion without a doubt has been the best decision of my life!

Has it been a smooth road?
Smooth roads only exist in perfect worlds. There will always be obstacles on your way towards an unfamiliar direction. My first challenge was my schedule; I had to go from working the typical nine-to-five hours to being an on-demand artist—even if that meant waking up at 2 a.m. to help a mom-to-be glamour up and catch that initial ray of sunlight perfection in her photos. I have even dealt with grand amounts of competitors, all striving to be on top! Granted, this career was my decision alone, but there are still difficult moments. There are moments when I have to lift my own spirits and remind myself of my goals. We are our own greatest critics, but once you learn to face your doubts, you can do anything you put your mind to. Turn negativity and criticism into positive words of encouragement. Learn to make all criticism constructive, and continue striving to improve.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Red Lips Makeup Artistry – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My company’s purpose is to lessen the stress for clients when it comes to doing makeup and hairstyles. I can handle anything you need to ensure that you look and feel as beautiful as ever. We specialize in any special occasion. This includes, but is not limited to weddings, bridal parties, birthdays, maternity and many more.

There is a passion in my work that shows itself when you see the final after shot. I love making my clients feel pampered and glammed up. It is an instant euphoric feeling the moment they look in the mirror; they feel as beautiful outside as they do inside, and I love every second of it. My company name is Red Lips Makeup Artistry. The reason I chose the name is due to my mother’s love for red lipstick. Ever since I was a little girl, I have idolized my beautiful mother. One of my favorite memories is growing up watching her apply her red lipstick daily. I am very proud of my choice to stand out from the crowd and select a name with uniqueness and creativity. The company I have managed to create sets itself apart from the rest. I have had clients continuously return to me and become lifelong friends.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Our city is always full of beautiful people and events. We have plenty of quinceañeras eager to celebrate their journeys into womanhood. There is no other place like Miami for weddings, events and maternity glam, and that is why I love it. My only dislike-if I had to mention any-is that when I do happen to visit other places, I feel such a drastic change. I am so used to and comfortable with the energetic atmosphere of Miami and its nightlife.
