Meet Nico Norena of Succulent Bite

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nico Norena.

Nico, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have always had a passion for food and photography. I grew up traveling and visiting multiple countries across the globe where I was exposed to a variety of different cultures and foods that surround these. In my family, food gatherings are among the most important part of the day, hence why while traveling this was one of the primary purposes of the trips. I have lived in multiple cities over my past 24 years of life (I am 24 years old!) including Chicago, Bogota (Colombia), Madrid (Spain), and Miami (Florida).

During my high school years in Miami, I took 4 years of photography classes which is where I discovered my passion for this art. My dad actually gave me my first camera at the age of 4! But it was not until my third year of college that I decided to combine both my passion for eating and skills in photography and create my first company, The Succulent Bite. It actually began as a hobby, I loved food and photography, so I combined them and opened up an Instagram account to publish my work.

Over the course of time, the page began to take off and the audience became larger and larger! It was about a year and a half into the launch of Succulent Bite that the page took off and started to take shape and form what it is today.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a road with obstacles turned into learning experiences. For instance, when I started I had no idea of some of the basics of starting an account. How many times per day should I post? What types of photos and content do foodies want to see? These were some of the questions that I was able to answer with time and that was key to the growth and success of the business.

Succulent Bite – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Succulent Bite focuses on showcasing food and lifestyle from local Miami spots and travel. Our primary focus is on food, but we throw in lifestyle in the mix as well. I think that currently Succulent Bite is mostly known for it’s mouth-watering, decadent food videos. We work with brands and restaurants in marketing partnerships to showcase products and delicious food creations.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I think that having our food videos circulate the web across major social channels on a worldwide level is definitely one of the most exciting and joyful moments we have.

Seeing the exciting and emotive reactions of foodies to our content is by far one of the most gratifying feelings ever!
