Meet Nelson Cuadras of PressGo in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nelson Cuadras.

Nelson, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Hello. My name is Nelson Cuadras and I am the owner of PressGo. At PressGo, we design and develop internet solutions for our clients including but not limited to WordPress/Shopify, Search Engine Optimization and Social Media services. I originally began as a freelancer and recently have brought on a developer to help me expand my services and provide the best value to my clients. When I’m not managing projects, I work as a Movement Coach for Worklete. At Worklete, I travel around the country teaching one day movement safety seminars to employees in labor intensive industries. Some of our clients include Nestle and Penske. When I tell people of the two kinds of work I am involved in, they are usually surprised because they seem to be so contrasting. I have found a delicate balance between work behind the computer and my passion which is teaching others how to become more comfortable in their bodies, allowing them to move better and enjoy their physical nature.

Currently, I am bridging the gap between the coaching and web development work I provide by offering guides, courses and one on one instruction for the employee, freelancer or entrepreneur that finds themselves seated, behind a computer for most of the day. What prompted me to offer this was the anxiety and restlessness I would experience while either coding or answering emails behind my computer for most of the day. Having been diagnosed with Tourette’s Syndrome at a young age, I have always found it challenging to sit still, whether it was in class, a movie theatre or a short car ride to a friend’s house. This feeling of restlessness amplified when I started programming and the pressure of fulfilling deadlines for my clients would escalate. I would sometimes find myself in a panicked and frenzied stated, heart racing, trying to catch my breath. I knew I needed to find a better way to manage these anxieties and started looking back at the times in my life when I was most present and relaxed.

These moments were found in sports and athletics. I easily found myself getting in to the ‘zone’ when I was competing or playing pickup games with friends. My spasms would completely subside. I applied this concept of a play state or athletically primed state to break up my work days. I would work for an hour and then take a ten minute break to bust out some pushups/pullups and jump rope. I started finding it easier to get through the day without feeling anxious in my chair. My work quality increased and many of my symptoms from Tourette’s including many of the tics, began to subside. My research would also find a correlation with the activities I was including in my day and it’s relation to helping neurological disorders.

This firsthand experience showed me how important it is for us all to move as often as we can throughout the day, especially those facing movement disorders. The medicine was movement and so I dove further into these ideas. I then adopted a 1-4 hour movement practice everyday for the past two years to mitigate my symptoms as well as learn new, fun skills like hand balancing. Now, I teach these concepts to my clients and enjoy seeing the moments where it clicks for them. Through the power of social media, I have been able to share my story on Instagram @nelsoncuadras and connect with others who are going through similar struggles. The transparency of my story has allowed me to reach and provide value to individuals in my backyard of Miami as well as all over the world. My ultimate goal is to provide these same tools that have worked for me to those experiencing the challenges of movement disorders and then taking what I learn to apply these principles to the general public. As the nature of work becomes more sedentary and we spend more time behind screens, the need for a movement practice in everyone’s daily life is and will continue to be the aspect of life that I choose to focus on.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There are challenges in any ones experience of life and I certainly am not immune to this. My biggest obstacle has been overcoming bad habits and patterns that I learned in my earlier years. Poorly managing stress is one challenge that I know that I must continually work on in order to make sure that I do not get overwhelmed and in turn, my symptoms from Tourette’s amplify. Learning to manage my restlessness in an occupation that asked of me to sit still and work on complex problems for hours at a time was a challenge that I best learned to overcome by delegating the work. If there is one piece of advice I could provide for entrepreneurs and freelancers is to delegate as soon as you can. There is always someone better than you that can do the work that you either hate or simply aren’t good at. Some things are best when done by ourselves if they can be accomplished quickly but I’ve found that most things are best when given to the right person. Ultimately, this becomes a test of being able to relinquish your identity with the ego and understanding that you can’t do it all by yourself. Empower others sooner and you will find the time to tackle the more important issues in your life.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about PressGo – what should we know?
My business is called PressGo. I specialize in web development and design for WordPress and Shopify as well as marketing. I am known for creating semi-custom websites in under 7 days, sometimes in under 24 hours, for WordPress. What I am most proud of is that I have a direct line of communication with my clients and they have access to me throughout the entire process. My team includes myself and a developer, both of us based in the USA, which allows us to provide the quickest turnaround for our clients without any language barriers. Our prices are also the most competitive for the custom quality we provide. We save our clients the time that they would have wasted trying to figure out a website builder like SquareSpace or Wix while providing the email, phone, in person or video communication that they could not find anywhere else.

Having been a developer for over 7 years, I understand how to take the technical jargon and relay that to the client in a manner that is easily digestible. I spend much of my time making sure that my clients are being listened to and understood. I delegate some of the work to my highly skilled and talented developer and oversea the projects from beginning to end, providing the client with daily updates. I believe it is the family like mentality that I provide my clients with while maintaining the professionalism of a seasoned business that sets me apart from the cheaper web services out there. My ability to communicate transparently and often with my clients as well as teaming up with the most talented and skilled individuals allows me to provide a service that larger, bloated and disconnected firms could never achieve. The satisfaction of our clients at PressGo is my top priority and the testimonials we have earned show this.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
There are many individuals that deserve credit for my successes. It’s really all about them because it would not be possible without their help. When it comes to my web development business, I would like to first thank my parents for the support that they provided me while I chased my dreams. They always believe that I could accomplish anything from me wanting to be a car mechanic at age 18 to deciding to start freelancing as a web developer with no prior experience. Without their encouragement, it would have been more challenging to face the uncertain moments. I would also like to thank my good friend Mark Gadala Maria for allowing me to learn the ins and outs of WordPress development and Search Engine Optimization as he paid me to work on his client’s websites. I am forever grateful for his trust in me with his paying clients to learn on the fly and get the job done. These moments with him, learning about the latest technologies and his strategies, has shaped the approach I take with my clients today.

For the movement coaching work I do, I would like to thank Chris Espinal for exposing me to Worklete and the value that they provide to their clients. Without Chris, I would not be coaching movement safety around the country, effecting the way people move and helping them feel better in their bodies while keeping them safe at work and in their everyday lives outside of work. The thank you’s I receive at the end of our one day seminars are priceless and without Chris and the team at Worklete, I would not have this privilege. I would also like to thank my first movement teachers, Sean, Aylin and Eli, for exposing me to a different perspective around moving and training the body. Without their help and assistance over the last two years, I might be doing the same routines and not discovering the complexities and beauty of my physical nature. With their help, I was able to find my purpose in helping others move better in their bodies so they can be their best selves in all the areas of their lives.
