Today we’d like to introduce you to Nathalie Chery.
Nathalie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
At the young age of 14 years old, I developed an interest for hair. I began by watching my sister do hair, from home. From then on I practiced on myself and advance my skills, soon after my work was recognized and I began doing hair on others. In 2015 I became a licensed hairstylist and I started my business Nat Touch. This business today is my love, I take great pleasure in knowing I was able to assist with getting the look you love. I specialize in hair care, braids, extensions, custom wig units, and lash extensions.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. Many parents from the Caribbean do not believe cosmetology to be a valuable career, my father always wanted me to be a doctor or engineer. I’ve struggled with balancing a regular 9-5 and my love for hair, each and every time I would choose hair. My passion for hair has always remained with me, when I relocated, when I had no home when I choose education, even when I choose a 9-5.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Nat Touch – what should we know?
My signature look is giving you the most natural styles. I love when your extensions look as natural as your hair. I believe in enhancing your hair beauty. I specialize in braids and custom wigs. I am most proud when my work quality and talents are recognized and my works quality. I was recently able to style Karen Civil’s hair for an Art Basel event, my talent speaks for itself. When you see a natural look it may be Nat Touch.
What have been some of the most important lessons you’ve learned over the course of your career?
The most important lesson I’ve learned over the years is to take your passion seriously. I would have been licensed and committed to my business sooner. Time waits for no one.
