Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Presendieu.
Natalie let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started Soulful Lashes about 4 years ago, I was a broke college student who needed to just make extra money. At the time, I was working two jobs and still didn’t have enough to cover basic living expenses. One day I took what was left of my financial aid and invested it into taking an eyelash extension course to become a certified lash Specialist. I knew I had to make it work because I would stay at a roadblock unless I got over this hump of adulting and being a student. Anyway, fast forward today it is the best thing I’ve done. I’ve put so much time and effort into it and now it’s just a successful, amazing business that I would have never dreamed of.
Has it been a smooth road?
Definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I had to learn that the first class I took probably wasn’t the best and, in the beginning, made me give up for a few months because I just thought I wasn’t good at it. However, Thank God I didn’t give up. One day I decided to try it again, but this time not take no for an answer. Balancing work and life are still a real struggle, including Finding reliable help, and just the pressure to be successful. There are still many obstacles. I just decide every day to give it my best. Failing and obstacles are part of the journey. I’m only here because I’m supposed to be here, and I don’t have to fake it. Just be honest and give it my best.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
So my business is applying individual eyelash extensions to the natural lash to create a fuller longer look. Recently I have expanded to doing eyebrows and waxing; however, Lashes is my specialty. I am known mainly for my workshops that I hold. Basically, teaching other girls to become their own business owners like myself. What I am most proud of is my integrity. I feel like sometimes when we reach a level, we forget where we came from and we get so full of ourselves. I’m glad that I’ve been able to maintain humbleness and gratitude towards every person that Supports Soulful Lashes. I would say sets me apart is my desire to really help other young women like me. I felt like I had to figure this out all on my own, which is not necessarily a bad thing; however, had I had some mentorship or guidance, I could’ve avoided a lot of unnecessary mistakes. So, I tried to give as much as I can to help others. I really pour my soul into my business.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I believe Boynton beach is one of the best places to have a lash business because the area here is so vibrant. With a mix of backgrounds and all different ages targeting women is not much of a hassle. We in south Florida love to look our best especially going to places like the beach or the gym while saving time cause there’s always something to do!
