Today we’d like to introduce you to Nahomie Jean Louis.
Nahomie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My background is actually in the legal field. I obtained a Law Degree from Madrid, Spain and since I completed my studies, I moved back to Miami and managed an immigration law firm for about three years. The idea/concept of French Delice Collections came alive during Covid-19. I was furlough from the firm, for the first time in years, I was able to slow down during this quarantine to evaluate how I am moving forward. I resigned and decided that I would put my energy towards this project, which was introduced to me by my business partner, who is a European Gourmet distributor in South Florida.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The beginning stages of the business start-up was quite simple. It was simply because my partner was able to facilitate me in every way as far as insights, the products, storage, and developing a method/system in which we would be able to attract our clients. I should also point out that at the beginning stage, it was more of a trial. So as we realize the potential of the business, we have constantly been revising our process in order to improve, especially now since we are growing and making room to grow.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
At French Delice Collections, we aim to create a unique concept that would embrace quality, luxury and taste. We are known for our pastry gift boxes. I believe that the quality of our pastries in combination to the time we take to craft our spectacular packaging, is what sets us apart from others.
What were you like growing up?
I love entertaining guests; I’ve always been that way even as a child. When I was younger in Haiti, I remember my parents would host these lavish parties where they would have private chefs to entertain their guests. They would serve a variety of spectacular amuse bouches. The very same pastries that we make and sell at French Delice Collections are the same pastries that I grew up on. Although we spend so much time in the kitchen as a family or around food, I never once thought I would end up in the food industry.
One of my favorite things to do is traveling. I have been to over 25 countries. Aside from the United States, I have lived in Haiti, Spain, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
