Meet Myrtho Jean-Baptiste of A Metro Production in Pompano Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Myrtho Jean-Baptiste.

Myrtho, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Growing up, I always wanted to to be in front of the camera either if it was acting, rapping, modeling or playing sports; awkwardly enough I was REALLY SHY. I never wanted to be a photographer, videographer, producer or even graphic designer. It just kind of happened. When I was in the 8th grade my girlfriend at the time was a singer, and I really believed in her and her talent.

We both were young and couldn’t afford to pay studio time, so I turned to my cousins who had a basic studio set up in their room quality wasn’t great, but we cherish that song till this day because we finally made a dream tangible. She became my first artist to my record label I only dreamed of starting Real Musiq.Ent! It wasn’t just a my thing it was an “our” thing.

The love I had for her and music pushed me to find serval financial outlets to finance our own recording studio in my Haitian mother garage which she wasn’t too fond of at first may I add. With great research and saving money, I built my first professional recording booth which I had no intentions of building at first. “Myrtho we ain’t coming to your hot empty garage to record, we going to a real studio in G.A (Golden Acres where Kodak Black is from) where THEY ACTUALLY HAVE A BOOTH.”

After being ridiculed by one of my childhood friends Darien at our high school cafeteria table I had a whole new drive and determination in me I had tons of people to prove wrong because at the time he wasn’t the only one doubting me. At this point, everything I bought or did had to big and professional in order to be taken seriously by my peers and future patrons.

Finally having a professional/sounding studio, I Knew I would have to get into taking pictures and video after the songs were done. Although I became a young entrepreneur then, I didn’t get into the photography/videography business until I graduated from Blanche Ely High School back in 2012. I did a few corporate gigs for the city of Pompano Beach (CRA), and my company also got presented for the videography services we were providing to them during their chamber of commerce meeting.

But things didn’t really take off for me like that until I am creating a promo video for my cousin 3-day church conference. That’s when the church community got a glimpse of what I can really do. After that, every youth department in different churches knew who A Metro Production was or at least knew the quality of work I do.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Anything worth pursuing will always have its own cons. I never had someone to mentor or teach me the ropes in my line of business. Like how to price things, how to talk to clients, how to become a legit business etc. I’ve failed, I’ve been depressed and stressed! You name it I felt it.

Being a young entrepreneur I’ve been taking advantage of from my older peers whose been doing this longer than me. Either it’s me getting underpaid or not at all for the amount of work and effort I put in. Being young I kind of was expecting to be taken care of and mentored more than anything but learned sometimes its just business/dog eat dog world if you are not smart enough I guess.

But it taught me a lot and made me a wiser person in general, even clients have their own roles they play when they see a young face. In the beginning, you’ll never get the support or trust that you need, at least not me. My own mother wasn’t really too fond of what I was doing if it wasn’t dealing with the medical field or the common professions that are known to make you money it was a waste of time.

I don’t fault her she just wants what’s best for her son now when she speaks about my business to others you can hear the level of joy and pride in her voice due to my success.

All in all, I’ve been blessed through it all, and God wouldn’t give me anything I can’t bare pressure breaks pipes, and I’m no pipe just a diamond that’s a bit rough lol.

Please tell us about A Metro Production.
What do I do? Hmm, I consider myself as an artist/media specialist and a jack of all trades more or less. I’m a photographer, videographer, graphic designer, web developer, music producer, phlebotomist, HIV/AIDS tester/consoler, certified medical assistant and more. I’m known for everything I just listed some clients know me more for videos or pictures some clients met me through my testing table and been with me ever since.

What I’m most proud of as a business, service provider/creative is how happy I make my clients when it comes down to making their vision for their own business a reality or being there for their special moments in their life and just reading the kind comments they have to say when they tag me in their Facebook post on what I’ve done for them it keeps me going when I want to give up honestly.

They become my marketers advertising me to the world so others can come and experience what they just received. What sets me apart I guess my character or the person that I am I don’t think I’m any better or worst than anybody else God will always give you your portion in anything that you do, and it’s just your job to be great at it if it’s your calling.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I’m looking to build something bigger than me I’m looking to have a production company where I can employ multiple people have a big facility where I can merge everything under one building.

I want to change and impact lives with the work that I do and change that I to us. As of now the only big changes I’m planning is looking for home vs. a commercial place to officially operate a business out of.
