Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Hall, MD.
Michael, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am an anti-aging wellness specialist. I came to Miami in 2005 from New Zealand and at that time I was studying holistic medicine in Maori communities and had spent some time in Sri Lanka after the tsunami. It dawned on me that the ancient cultures that we tend to ignore have great wisdom and I wanted to incorporate that into my practice. My background is very Western in nature as I studied as an allopathic physician also at Cornell Medical Center New York Hospital as an ophthalmology resident. I later went on and became an old-fashioned general practitioner at the University Missouri- Kansas City because I was interested in a more holistic in nature and also being able to do just about everything including deliver babies and perform minor surgery.
Currently, my practice in Miami Beach is structured around a holistic approach and I look at the 30,000 foot view of the patient as well as getting down into the 500 foot view of their concerns. Often find the neglect to see certain things and I illuminate those threaded discussions and I spend at least one to two hours with my patients each time I see them.
I can say that it’s important to balance out people’s lives both from the intrinsic and extrinsic point of view. So many people are in a state of constant stress that it affects their whole living organism and in my humble opinion that is the progenitor of disease.
I have a relationship with a number of the hotels, including Faena, the W hotel and Setai hotel in which I see a number cultured, well-heeled, jet-setters as well as the general community which makes for a very interesting mix of clientele. I’m also the FAA airmen medical examiner for Miami Beach so I see a number of airline pilots in my practice. As a helicopter pilot I am always looking for reason to get off the ground.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We’ve been very blessed in our practice and initially started with my brother Carrie Hall MD. My brother I love dearly but unfortunately, this is not an environment that he really wants to be part of in particular probably because of his older brother…. So I’ve been doing this alone for the last 10 years and it’s been difficult. I would say that this medical practice is a victim of its own success and somewhat of a gilded cage practice is been very successful and done well even through the recession years but principally I’m the only person that can do what I do and because my skill set is so broad and deep. I do everything from well-baby exams to performing mesotherapy therapy and infra-orbital Juvaderm filler and usually, those things don’t typically coincide.
Needless to say, it’s very hard to replicate what I do with someone else’s skill set. If you know anybody let me know… apply within.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Hall Longevity Clinic – what should we know?
My business is very unique and because of the large population that I see from all over the world, and it allows me to interface with many different types of people. I have multi billionaires to the locals, what I often find is most people come with the same kinds of complaints and often times I find the same kind of problems. Although the more money you have the more trouble you can get into, I think wealth does offer people certain amount of luxury of time and they can have insight where others may not. I’m known for deconstructing and reconstructing people and also for my aesthetic capabilities. I have a very fine and astute eye for beauty and often think that my facial lip enhancement is quite unique as often times I have women cry with joy as they leave my office.
What sets us apart from others is that we offer a very hands-on personalized experience and I do spend a great amount of my time getting to know my patients. I often think the trust is the first cornerstone any relationship and I try to establish that from the get-go.
I have created a software company Wellskor and I’m trying to establish what could be consider a sort of “FICO score” of a person’s health based on all their measured health metrics information.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Throughout my career I’ve had many different professors and teachers that I’ve admired but I’d have to say that my time at New York Hospital Cornell medical University Dr. Harvey Linkoff was very instrumental in my understanding of the human eye. He was very patient with me and help me understand through coloring pencils a way to interpret the different layers of the retina. I think in some way being a child understanding the complexities of the human body always is a reminder that we never stop learning and that there are always things that we must accomplish through further learning.
