Meet Tanya Patron, PA-C of Miami Plastic Surgery and Aesthetically Speaking in Kendall, South Miami and Coral Gables

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanya Patron.

Tanya, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was always fascinated by medicine and art as a child. I realized that I could create a career in both, practicing Aesthetic Medicine. As a PA student, I started the first aesthetic rotation under Dr. Carlos Wolf at Miami Plastic Surgery in 2008. This was the beginning of my journey where I would learn all about the world of injectables. After graduation, I dove right in and began understanding the importance of facial symmetry, aging anatomy, preventive treatments and everything in between.

I started as the Lead PA for Miami Plastic Surgery, specializing in not only injectables but laser and facial treatments as well. In 2017 I became faculty for the Aesthetic Extender Symposium, an educational conference teaching the latest techniques in injectable artistry and safety. This year was my 3rd year educating fellow PA’s and NP’s, sharing best practices and how to really make it in this evergrowing industry.

Over the past decade, I have really found out more about myself than I ever could imagine. I launched an exciting Aesthetic Apparel and Accessory line with my coworkers called Aesthetically Speaking. Our goal is to make casual Friday more exciting and get everyone talking more about their treatments. I also have a patent pending medical device launching later this year that will help to make injectables safer, something our specialty has needed with more injectors on the rise. This specialty has grown in popularity and I am so proud to have been there from the start of it. I truly look forward to what the next decade will bring.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
For the most part, yes, it was a pretty smooth road. The struggles I have dealt with were more personal. Being a perfectionist, I was always wanting to do more, do better. I always wanted to learn more and strive to become the best injector I could, keeping my patient’s safety and best interest always in mind. It seemed in the beginning that everyone wanted bigger, wanted more, and deep down I knew that was not the most attractive but more of a trend. Now that I have stayed true to my aesthetic core values, I have many happy returning patients and referrals for this very reason.

I also learned that this industry can be very competitive. One of my biggest challenges was always “asking permission” or waiting for social media to catch up on a new technique that I knew was better. I now know as an advanced injector and trainer, there is no real competition in this field but more fear of anatomy and lack of confidence that keeps competition over community instead of the other way around.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I practice Aesthetic Medicine for Miami Plastic Surgery, specializing in cosmetic injectables such as Botox, Dysport, Kybella, Dermal Fillers, and PRP (platelet rich plasma) I am known as the “Queen of Noses” for the non-surgical nose jobs where I inject fillers into the nose to help with contour and symmetry.

I am most proud of my teaching accomplishments. I get to train other providers in this specialty and really help to bring a sense of continuity when it comes to balanced and safe injectables.

What sets me apart, is the amount of time I take with each patient. I provide a personal service to each and everyone I treat covering all the options and what will help them to achieve their goals without overdoing it. It is definitely a skill needed here in Miami where so many people are walking around overdone. I take the time to listen to my patient’s true concerns which is why I get so many referrals. I am not into “cookie-cutter” injectables or a one size fits all approach.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am currently launching a new medical device to aesthetic providers to help make injectables safer. With so many complications from fillers such as tissue necrosis and potential blindness, I really saw the need for this invention. I am currently in production and looking to launch by the first quarter of 2020.
