Meet Melinda Farina of Beauty Brokers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melinda Farina.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Melinda. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have been in the Medical Aesthetics industry for 28 years altogether. I started my consultancy at 21 after years of working with NYC plastic surgeons and cosmetic dentists who were key opinion leaders within our industry and who also became my mentors.

I always felt that safe doctor selection was extremely important and believed that aesthetic medicine required a true artistic eye. I made it my mission to educate my clients on safe doctor selection in the Aesthetic medical industry and I specifically hone in on niche specialties. I set out to learn every minute detail and technical nuance that went into each surgery for each specific case. I have a real talent for matching clients to the best, most capable hands.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Is it ever a smooth road when building a business? Of course not. You don’t become successful by doing it all right along the journey. You become successful by falling on your ass a million times and getting back up and changing the way you do things the second time around. The entrepreneurial road is never smooth pavement. The bumps are what you learn from, they are what gives you the skill to detour wisely and in the most strategic and brilliant ways possible. Consulting is a grey area of aesthetic medicine. Either do it well or don’t do it at all. If you’re looking for a get rich quick gig, this ain’t it. Consulting is based on extensive experience, years of exposure to one industry, building relationships and trust. Consulting is also based on results. I am a results-driven professional but these things do not happen overnight. Rome was not built in a day. Networking is crucial. I did a lot of the groundwork in my 20’s, hustled hardcore in my 30’s and am reaping what I have sowed in my 40’s. Success takes time, dedication and many tiny failures along the way to learn from that, in turn, makes you a better businesswoman.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Beauty Brokers Inc. – what should we know?
Beauty Brokers Inc is an aesthetic surgery consultancy and patient education and advocacy service. We are, in essence, plastic surgery matchmakers. We have consulted over 35,000 clients worldwide. I am pretty certain that I run the busiest consultancy of its kind globally. I also know I have had the most success. I’m relentless in my pursuit to help people get it right and I am a “type A“ businesswoman. People know me to be a multitasker and a social media Viking lol, I laugh because someone actually called me this before, but it’s honestly second nature for me. I enjoy building a business. I love my career and I am proud of all of the confidence we are able to assist in reinventing for our clients once again. It’s a nice feeling to do something good for others. Good karma, I am all about that! What sets me apart from others? Clients find my raw honesty very refreshing and I lead with truly genuine intentions. Money doesn’t drive me, results do.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My Jewish mother, always my sounding board, thank God for her. My brilliant brother, a Wall Street managing director, who always coached me through my feelings of defeat when I felt things were crumbling before my eyes. “Let cooler heads prevail” he would always tell me, that always helped. Dr. Larry Rosenthal who set the standard for excellence in what I sought out in cosmetic specialists. He did everything right- from building a thriving cosmetic dental empire, to delivering flawless aesthetic results, to networking globally with the most esteemed professionals of all kinds. He was my first exposure into this world and for that, I am so very grateful. I don’t think he realizes the profound way he shaped my career. We work with thousands of brilliant professionals and each of them has had their fair share in contributing to my knowledge. I learn something valuable with every human interaction. I’m a lucky gal… wise too.
