Meet Megan McCluer of Feminine Forms in MiMo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan McCluer.

Megan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I first started Feminine Forms, it was a bit of an accident. A friend had asked me to take her maternity photos, as I’d been a feminine photographer for many years. Honored, of course I’d said yes. After the shoot, I’d decided that those were some of my favorite photographs I’d ever taken. There was so much strength in the feminine form and so much purpose to the images. They’d be photos that she’d remember forever, and images that would lead me to wanting to build Feminine Forms into a business.

I’ve always been an advocate for female empowerment and found that capturing the female form gave me the perfect platform to be able to do that.

Has it been a smooth road?
Building Feminine Forms has been a relatively easy path, though it took a lot of dedication. I think it’s been easy because it’s a direct reflection of who I am and what I believe in, meaning that it doesn’t feel like I’m straining myself to create and execute. It’s important for any entrepreneur to create from what’s already within them, as it makes it more authentic, and more personal.

The most challenging aspect was getting it off the ground. There are many components to building, and I still had two other jobs! I added a couple of hours to my mornings and my weekends in order to give it the attention a new business deserves.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Feminine Forms – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Feminine Forms is first and foremost a photography company. We primarily specialize in motherhood and maternity photography. What makes the business unique is that it’s all about highlighting the natural essence of a woman, and that means shooting in nature locations, in bright-white studios with minimalistic styling, and minimalistic retouching.

I’m a firm believer that all women are beautiful and radiant as they are. We’re in a society that tries to pressure women into believing that they’re not good enough, pretty enough, or fit enough. Feminine Forms works to silence those beliefs by replacing them with empowering thoughts and gorgeous photographs that truly capture each women’s inner strength and feminine.

In addition to doing the maternity and motherhood sessions, I’ve also started doing online self-portrait workshops, as I’m a self-portrait artist as well. These workshops give women tips and tricks on how to feel more at home in their bodies, as well as how to feel more confident in front of the camera.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I’ve been in Miami for about four years now, and when I’d first moved here, I wasn’t sold on Miami as a home location. Now, however, I couldn’t be more in love with Miami if I tried.

What I like least is that Miami can be tricky as far as finding down-to-earth people. Once a person finds their “tribe” in the city, it’s not uncommon for them to stick to what they know. That makes it challenging for outsiders to come in.

What I love the most is that there’s a really creative atmosphere to Miami and there are so many artists that are incredibly passionate about what they love. It’s been fun to watch Miami unfold, even within the last couple of years. So much is being built, painted, and created. I’m excited to see what the city turns into within the next decade.

Another plus? I wake up in paradise every single day.
