Today we’d like to introduce you to Meg Velten and Rich Velten.
Meg and Rich, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
From the beginning, we always told ourselves we wanted to work together from home doing something that we love. We just weren’t sure what that would look like. Since I was a child, I always had a love for thrift store shopping, art, and interior design. Rich grew up watching his granddaddy build things in his wood shop. When we got married we started using these interests of ours to make our house a home. From there it slowly evolved into a business where we could use our gifts to help others create homes that they loved with our handcrafted, reclaimed, and vintage furniture and home decor.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been lots of ups and downs along the way. One struggle has been trying to balance our nontraditional schedule and lifestyle in a way that works best for our family.
Please tell us about your business.
We are a vintage and handcrafted furniture and home decor business. We have a curated selection of pieces that we display in our mobile boutique, a 1967 Westwind camper. We sell at various markets throughout the Southeast and in our online store. We have also started cohosting seasonal barn sales and are branching out into prop rentals and photography.
What has been the proudest moment of your career so far?
Our proudest moments are being able to share in the joy when our customers find a piece that they love and are drawn in by its story. Our business is about more than furniture and home decor, it’s about the people behind those pieces and the stories that they tell.
