Meet Meagan Puett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meagan Puett.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Art has been a part of my life ever since I can remember. I took painting lessons when I was 7 and 8 years old, and then I took art classes in high school. As soon as I graduated college I started teaching classes at a local painting studio, and then eventually began teaching classes on my own in people’s homes. It was around this time that I decided I wanted to pursue art as my career instead of physical therapy, which is what I was originally going to school for.

When it comes to my own original paintings, my favorite subject matter is anything involving the ocean and sea life. With just a quick glance through my gallery, you will discover that my favorite animal to paint is a sea turtle. I love them! As I began creating my own artwork I decided that I needed to get a nice, professional camera so that I could capture photos of wildlife to use for my paintings, which I did. However, once I got a camera and lens I then fell in love with the art of photography as well! I have started doing portrait sessions, engagements, and family photos for people and I feel truly blessed to capture these beautiful moments in time for my clients.

One thing that you will notice as you scroll through my art gallery is that on every painting I have included a scripture. Most of them (not all) read “Romans 8:39”, which states “Neither height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation can separate us from the love of our God that is in Christ Jesus”. It is my hope and prayer that you will know this to be true in your life today.

Please tell us about your art.
For my paintings, I like to paint ocean life and animals. I use canvases, driftwood, and old windows, and I usually use acrylic paints, but sometimes I use watercolor as well. Something that has been very popular for me lately is window painting commissions, which I absolutely LOVE creating!

For my photography I love capturing families and couples most of all. I use Canon equipment for all of my photos.

The inspiration for all of my work is God and all of his creation. He is the one that has given me these gifts, and I truly hope that through the scriptures on my paintings and the beauty of people and the natural world that I capture in my photography that God is glorified in it all.

Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed? How do local, national or international events and issues affect your art?
I personally believe that God gives each person their own set of unique gifts for a reason, and that includes artists. For me, the main goal is unchanging. My purpose in sharing my artwork and photography is to give God glory, regardless of what is going on in the world. However, I firmly believe in using the gifts that you’ve been given to fight for what you believe in. So, if there is a local or international event that I feel passionately about, you can be certain that I will do what I can with the gifts that I’ve been given to help that cause.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
