Meet Martin Hill of The Beebo in West Palm Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Martin Hill.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Martin. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I invented the Beebo so I could read a bedtime story while I fed our baby boy, and I couldn’t do that without a free hand. When my wife Sarah wasn’t nursing, she loved how much better family meals were with the Beebo. After all the positive comments from family and friends, I made the decision to leave my job as an electrical engineer and focus on Beebo full time. In September 2015, I was on Season 7, Episode 1 of Shark Tank and was lucky enough to land a deal with Lori Greiner and guest shark Ashton Kutcher.

We’re currently in BuyBuyBaby stores nationwide, as well as our own website, Amazon, specialty/boutique stores, and will launch in select Walmart stores in January.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I would say that making the decision to quit my job (with my wife’s support) was the scariest point in our journey. It’s not an easy thing to start building a brand and a business from scratch and neither of us has a background in the business world. There is always a worry that we’re making the right choices for our business and our family, but I wouldn’t change anything. Finding the determination to stick with Beebo and stand behind what we know is a great product has been a worthwhile challenge.

Another unanticipated obstacle has been educating consumers because the Beebo is so unique, about how to use the Beebo properly and how it’s meant to make those precious moments of feeding a baby even better.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Beebo – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
The Beebo is a free hand bottle holder designed so that a caregiver can read to a baby, massage the baby or eat at the same time as their baby. There is nothing else like it on the market, and we’re proud that it gives bottle feeding parents the same flexibility as nursing moms. Grandparents and people with disabilities also love the Beebo, It has been especially exciting to hear stories from our customers that have physical limitations (stroke, amputees, arthritis, etc.) – some of whom are able to feed their babies because of our product.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We will continue to expand globally – at the moment we’re available in Japan and Korea and we’re about to launch into Scandinavia, Canada, and the UK.
