Today we’d like to introduce you to Martha Melo.
Martha, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a Graphic Designer with extensive experience in the advertising industry. My multicultural education and contact with different cultures has given me the ability to design for world-class brands such as Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Subaru, Times Magazine, Domino’s Pizza, The Ritz Carlton, AT&T, Coca-Cola, Powerade, Pfizer, and Novartis. During my two decades working for top design firms in the industry, I have also extended my services as a freelancer and launched my own projects, I am a designer who loves color and Mother Nature with a strong passion for global cultural diversity. I see design and creativity on every detail of this beautiful world, as an expert of wide format and environmental design, I know very well the process from landing the idea, design the layout, and finally print on the correct material my art on different pieces, like bar stools, wall art, pillows, canvas, etc. i.e. using sign vinyl for interior decor you must take in consideration the surface, the texture, lighting, paint, etc.
I love colors, textures, and materials, I am Blessed to be capable of moving from one design field to another, I really like the diversity of ethnic, languages, religious, art, and cultural community in which everything becomes in art forms! As Freelance graphic design professional I worked from home! My day starts walking around a majestic landscape, finally breakfast quietly with my husband, then I start to work in the studio that is at home, with a beautiful view of the lake, from here I can see the nature and wildlife of the Everglades, review my emails, and start to design … no more traffic, stress, very happy to start each new day!
Has it been a smooth road?
Our son called us “Spartans” for a reason, it was around 2004 when the love of my life was diagnosed with a heart problem, in those days we spent a lot of time in the hospital, more times than I’d like to count, so I have to concentrated in the darkest days of my life to fulfill my obligations to take care of my family, my job, and to help my husband with his recovery. We never complained, we just worked hard to believe that we could have a better future, my husband never gave up, with a positive attitude he focused on recovering, and despite all the adversity bought a beautiful house, full of light, with a majestic view and surrounded by palm trees, trees and lakes! So despite adversity, we had a new house to decorate. I started to design Home Decor when I visited many places trying to find the furniture and accessories for our new Home, but there was nothing I really like it, so I started the catalogue little by little, always with the support of my family. Finally in 2015 our faith in God was rewarded with a miracle saving the life of my husband, now we can be a normal family again.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Beautiful Home Decor story. Tell us more about the business.
Beautiful Home Decor is a completely different and unique store, in BHD we design the layout to decorate art boxes, pillows, bar stools, sofas, mirrors, walls, windows, any accessory of your house to size, color, and theme you like Of our collection, we can even design something exclusively for each client. My career as a graphic designer working for world-class companies, allows me to adapt aesthetics and good taste to any shape and space in interior decoration. There are interior decorators who use the products and designs of others, I design contemporary non-commercial art, I turn into reality all the ideas I have in my imagination, and there is definitely no other store like mine.
The sentence Beautiful Home Decor is one of the most popular on the internet, my visual content has placed this keywords in the top places in the search engines (SEO) competing with national store brands, this is possible because of the relevance of the content, my designs have a visual impact. Each piece is uncommon, beautiful, and unique.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see my collection of designs on the 2023 catalogue for Roche Bobois or Jean Paul Gaultier, I always dream BIG!
