Meet Marianela Noguera

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marianela Noguera.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I was born in Caracas, Venezuela. My art passion started at 7 years old after a bicycle accident that kept me from doing physical activities for a few weeks. I started drawing comic characters that soon develop into representations of my cats. After that, my parents seeing my art passion were always very supportive and sent me to take formal drawing and painting classes with different artists after I was 12 years old. I spent countless hours painting and exhibiting my paintings.

At the same time, besides pursuing the arts, I always wanted to become a teacher so after finishing high school, I studied Early Childhood Education for a year at the Universidad Metropolitana in Caracas, Venezuela before I moved to Miami, Florida. It was a time for a new beginning while learning a new language and switching my mayor to the Fine Arts. I graduated from the University of Miami with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts majoring in Painting and Graphic Design. After years of working as a graphic designer and a fine artist, I was able to integrate my passion for the fine arts and teaching into a single career by graduating from Florida International University with a master’s in science in Art Education. I have been able to work in two different counties in Florida to I instill my passion for the fine arts to my students while being a practicing artist and exhibiting my artworks in the United States and abroad.

Please tell us about your art.
My paintings depict nature as well as popular places around the world where I have been. I establish an intimate dialogue with the environment that reveals my profound feelings and intense sensitivity for nature. In my paintings, I carefully depict the incomparable beauty of the blue sky, foliage and living waters that revive the senses of the viewers. In addition to that I like to preserve a moment in time of the places I have visited in different parts of the world. All my paintings are one of a kind and each of them carry their own challenge at the time of execution to create environmental awareness as well as a pleasant aesthetic experience to the viewer. In my artworks, I use a variety of media such as oil and acrylic paints among others onto two-dimensional and three-dimensional supports.

As an artist, how do you define success and what quality or characteristic do you feel is essential to success as an artist?
Always believe in your artworks and understand that there are different audiences. Your artworks represent who you are, so they become a trade mark by the uniformity of ideas. Be professional and sharpen your skills every time. Do research and depict images that reflect you to invite the viewers to have a pleasant aesthetic experience.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
I am currently working in a new series of commission paintings, one of them will be exhibited in 7th OMAI Exhibition Puerto Rico in November 2018.

Besides commission artworks, I have had art exhibitions in South America, The Caribbean and The United States of America. I have received different art awards; Sierra Club, ACCA, Federal Reserve Bank and University of Miami among others. At the same time, I have served the community by painting murals and making sculptures for three schools in Miami Dade County Public Schools and participating in an auction for the organization Touching Miami with Love for the project Art that Feed at Fairchild Tropical Botanic among others.
