Meet Marco Bell of South Florida Interior Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marco Bell.

Marco, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
These days, to work as an artist is to work in the face of uncertainty. That can be very discouraging sometimes, but I decided to give it a try.

My step one was to realize that real artist don’t really starve.

I was born in Fort Lauderdale and I moved with my mother to Venezuela when I was very young. I received a few photographic accolades in Caracas during my college years. Following the advise one of my mentors I decided to apply to educational institutions in the United States, and a few months later I was informed that my portfolio obtained a scholarship in Parsons, one of the most prestigious art schools of the world.

When I graduated from my MFA program in 2015, and moved from New York back to Miami, I had very few resources but I was determined to earning a steady income while attempting to pursue independently a fulfilling career in the visual arts. Florida smiled at me and I quickly landed a job as an adjunct professor of art at Florida Atlantic University and I started shooting for Vacasa, an Oregon-based vacation rental company.

I started from zero, with one camera and a borrowed lens. I started developing a heterogeneous architectural portfolio with the objective of promoting my spatial and visual skills. I gave the venture a name: South Florida Interior Photography, and ever since I have been able to land a few accounts with local real estate brokerages, PR Agencies and commercial clients from different parts of the country. It’s been challenging, uncertain at times, but very fulfilling at the end.

Has it been a smooth road?
Miami market is saturated with lots of cheap competition.

Starting a solo-preneur venture requires a great deal of self-discipline, a thick skin and stubbornness.
